---The morning sun spills through the cabin windows, filling the room with warmth as the scent of breakfast wafts in from the kitchen. You awaken to the sound of laughter echoing through the halls, Kuroo’s unmistakable voice rising above the chatter.
You stretch and glance over at him, who’s already fully dressed, his hair tousled in a way that makes him look effortlessly cool. He catches you staring and grins, a teasing glint in his eyes.
“Good morning, sleepyhead! Ready to impress the family more today?” he calls over his shoulder as he heads to the kitchen.
“Sure,” you reply, forcing yourself to push down the nervous flutter in your stomach. “What do you have in mind?”
“Just some casual conversations about our undying love and devotion, you know,” he shoots back with a laugh.
As you make your way to the kitchen, you’re greeted by Kuroo’s mom, who’s flipping pancakes while his dad pours coffee at the table. His younger sister is already seated, her plate stacked high, grinning at the two of you as you enter.
“Good morning!” Mrs. Kuroo beams, placing a stack of pancakes on the table. “You two look adorable together!”
“Thanks, Mrs. Kuroo,” you say, fighting the urge to blush at the compliment.
Kuroo rolls his eyes but can’t hide his smile. “Alright, alright, we get it. We’re a cute couple.”
As you all sit down to eat, the conversation flows easily, with his parents asking light-hearted questions about your “relationship.” It quickly becomes apparent that his mom has done her research, recalling stories Kuroo has shared about you.
“So, how did you two meet?” Mr. Kuroo asks, leaning forward with genuine curiosity.
Kuroo grins, his eyes sparkling. “Well, it all started in high school. We were both in the same science class, and I might have blown up a few experiments…”
You can’t help but laugh. “More than a few. He was infamous for his ‘creative’ approaches to chemistry.”
His sister chimes in, wide-eyed. “Really? That’s so cool! Did you blow anything up on purpose?”
“Of course not!” Kuroo laughs, holding up his hands in mock defense. “It was all accidents! But we bonded over the chaos, and after that, we just… clicked.”
Mrs. Kuroo nods, her face lighting up. “You always did have a knack for making friends in the most unexpected ways. I remember you coming home with stories about your wild adventures.”
“Yeah, like that time we had to present our project on the solar system,” you say, picking up the thread. “Kuroo decided we should dress up as astronauts. He showed up in a homemade space suit made of cardboard and duct tape!”
Kuroo groans, but the smile on his face is undeniable. “Hey, it was a bold move! I was just trying to impress our teacher.”
“And you did! Although I think she was more impressed by how you managed to convince half the class to wear foil hats,” you add, laughter spilling out as you recount the memory.
His family chuckles, clearly charmed by the antics. “That’s adorable!” his sister exclaims, her eyes sparkling with admiration. “You two sound like you had so much fun.”
“Fun is an understatement,” Kuroo says, leaning back in his chair with a casual air. “We’ve been through quite a bit together.”
“So what are some of your favorite memories?” Mrs. Kuroo probes, leaning in eagerly.
“Let’s see…” you begin, trying to think of something that captures both the warmth and the hilarity of your friendship. “There was this one time we went to the beach and decided to build a sandcastle. Kuroo insisted he could create a palace, but it turned into more of a sand hill with a moat.”
“Excuse you, it was a castle with character!” Kuroo interjects, feigning indignation. “And the moat was a strategic choice!”
“Strategic? Right, because that totally saved it from being washed away by the tide,” you tease, unable to contain your laughter.
His parents chuckle, Kuroo’s mom nodding knowingly. “That sounds like a wonderful day. What happened next?”
“Let’s just say we ended up in the water trying to save our ‘masterpiece,’” you continue. “And Kuroo got knocked over by a wave while he was trying to rescue the flag we’d made.”
Kuroo groans again, burying his face in his hands. “Okay, okay, let’s skip that part.”
The family erupts in laughter, clearly enjoying the playful banter. His dad shakes his head, a warm smile on his face. “It sounds like you two have been inseparable since day one. That’s what makes a good relationship, after all.”
You exchange a glance with Kuroo, and for a moment, the air around you feels charged. You can sense the truth behind his words, the bond that has grown over the years. But just as quickly as the moment comes, Kuroo’s sister breaks the spell.
“So, do you think you’ll go on more adventures together?” she asks, her curiosity genuine.
Kuroo smiles at you, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Absolutely. But only if I get to bring my duct tape.”
You shake your head, laughing. “If that’s what it takes to keep the relationship going, I might have to reconsider.”
As breakfast wraps up, you feel a swell of warmth in your chest. You’ve managed to charm Kuroo’s family, weaving your shared memories into a tapestry of laughter and joy. You glance at Kuroo, who seems to be basking in the glow of his family’s approval, and something within you stirs—a mix of affection and an unexpected sense of belonging.
“Alright, what’s next on the agenda?” you ask, eager to keep the momentum going.
“Time for some games!” Kuroo’s mom announces, clapping her hands together. “We have board games, card games, and some outdoor fun planned. You two can team up against the family.”
Kuroo looks over at you, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “Are you ready to take on my entire family?”
You grin, your heart racing with excitement. “Bring it on! Team Kuroo and [Name] is ready for anything!”
And as you step away from the table, hand in hand with Kuroo, you can’t shake the feeling that maybe this weekend could become something more than just a clever act. Maybe, just maybe, it was the start of something real.
