Growing up Claudia had to resort to doing some bad things in order to survive to stay alive. Things that could get anyone in serious trouble like getting fines, probation, a criminal record or even jail time.
Luckily for Claudia, she didn't get any of them. She had only been caught stealing twice. The first time, she was banned from the store she tried to steal food from and the second time, the police let her off with a warning and from then on she was extra careful.
Being in care is bad for a lot of kids. Claudia being one of them. People stealing her belongings, not getting treated right, not enough food at dinner time because everyone else had taken it all—there's many reasons.
That's why at the age of fifteen when claudia was kicked out of her last foster home, she ran away. Squatting in abandon buildings with two other people, one younger and one older.
The eldest of the three—Lucy—she was too scared to steal food and things they needed and the youngest of the three—Maria—she was too young to do it so that left Claudia.
She had no choice but to steal food or semi-expensive items and sell them to get money for them to survive. At first she hated it but overtime it became second nature to her and she got better at it so she wouldn't get caught.
The three girls were still in school at the time and all graduated at different times due to their ages. Lucy graduated first and managed to get a scholarship to college, leaving Claudia and Maria.
Then not long before Claudia graduated, one of Maria's teachers found out Maria was living on the streets and called social services, who then found her a relatively good home, leaving Claudia by herself.
When Claudia graduated, she joined the fire academy, still living on the streets but the money she got from selling the things she stole, she saved up for a crappy apartment.
She was still stealing things to survive until she got her first pay check when she graduated the academy and joined station 19.
From then on, she tried her best not to steal as she had money but it was hard for her to just stop doing something she had been doing for almost ten years but she managed.
During her time at 19, Claudia had made friends for life, she had even found herself a relationship. Being with Andy is one of the best things that's ever happened to Claudia along with becoming a firefighter and making a life for herself.
