Lola Ripley-Hughes | Victoria and Lucas

| Lola has been watching too much 'all rise' |

~

Lola sat cross-legged on the living room floor, eyes glued to the TV screen as the latest episode of 'All Rise' unfolded.

The courthouse drama filled the air as Judge Lola Carmichael delivered a stirring monologue about justice and fairness.

Lola's lips moved as she repeated every word, her ten year old mind soaking in the drama like a sponge.

Lola loved 'All Rise'. It was her favourite show of all time and she loved it even more because she shared the same name as Judge Lola Carmichael, her favourite character beside Emily Lopez.

"Lola, it's time to clean your room!" Victoria called from the kitchen.

"Objection!" Lola shouted back, not even looking away from the TV.

"Excuse me?" Victoria asked, stepping into the living room, one eyebrow raised.

Lola paused the TV and stood up, smoothing her pyjama top. "I object, Your Honor. Cleaning my room doesn't meet the 'imminent threat to health and safety' standards."

Victoria crossed her arms, her lips twitching in an effort not to laugh. "What does that even mean?"

"It means-" Lola started confidently. "-That my room isn't dangerous. There's no mole, no pests, and i can still walk through it without tripping."

"She's got a point." Lucas walked in with a smirk, a mug of coffee in hand.

"You're not helping." Victoria shot him a look.

Lucas sheugged "she's thorough."

"I've prepared a list of reasons why i shouldn't have to clean my room right now." Lola continued, pulling out a piece of paper covered in bullet points. "Exhibit A: i'm in the middle of watching a very educational show about law and justice. Exhibit B: I always clean my room on Saturday mornings, it's only Friday."

Victoria sighed, rubbing her temples. "Lola, you're cleaning your room. End of discussion."

"Fine." Lola slammed the paper onto the coffee table. "I'm applying for an appeal...and it's Miss Ripley-Hughes or counsellor."

Lucas burst out laughing, earning another glare from Victoria. "What? She's creative!"
