"Are you insane?!"

I lean back in my office chair, sighing heavily.

Dohyun continues his lecture. "You're lucky you didn't lose any fingers!"

"1...2...3..." I pretend to count my fingers boredly.

Dohyun stops pacing and faces me, "Are you seriously joking around right now?!"

"No, I'm jokingly serious."

He pauses, staring at me with more disappointment than I've ever seen. Which is sad, I was kind of proud of that joke.

"You've lost it. You're completely insane."

I shrug, "Well, at least I'm not partly insane. I strive for completion."

It's a miracle he's put up with me for this long. I would've ditched my annoying self years ago.

"I love you, (Y/n), and your dry sense of humor. However, this is serious. You could've lost your whole hand."

"Dohyun, I know you're worried, but it's fine. It won't ever happen again, Mr. Wi is ordering new machines."

Dohyun stops his pacing to look at me. "Hajoon knows about this?"

"Yeah, he was the one that wrapped my hand for me." My face flushes at the memory.

"Oh.... I should thank him for helping you."

"Do what you wish to," I say dismissively, already turning back to my computer.

He sighs, "How are you always so nonchalant?"

"Years of practice."

He walks over and leans across the desk to flick me on my forehead. "Idiot."

"If you're going to abuse me, then could you please leave? I have work to do."

"Whatever. I have a meeting with Hajoon tonight, so we'll be leaving late," he says, opening the door.

I nod, "I'll be in here. Just let me know when you're done."

It's eleven-thirty, and Dohyun still isn't done with his meeting. I've already finished my work for today, and my hand hurts. Looking down, I realize that it's now bleeding through the bandages. Surely, there's a first aid kit in the break room.

There aren't many other people in the building, just a few assistants and people from other departments. The break room is empty, thankfully.

"Late night?"

I jump, spinning around to see an unfamiliar janitor. "I guess so."

"You should be careful. Things can get dangerous at night," he says, walking out the door.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but something about him seemed off. I've never seen him before, and this company hardly ever hires new janitors.

Once I find the first aid kit, I quickly wrap my hand and start walking back to my office.

"This may be the easiest job yet."

I stop walking when I hear the voice. It only takes a few seconds for me to recognize it.

"Yeah, he said we'll go through with it in a little while," the janitor says, holding his phone between his ear and shoulder.

My heart is racing. Accidental eavesdropping truly will be the death of me. He hasn't noticed me yet, so I quietly make my way back to the elevator. When the doors close, I let out a breath.

The doors open, and I rush to my office, accidentally running into someone as I turn the corner. I stumble back, "I'm so sorry."

"Were you running?" Dohyun asks, stepping closer to me.

Hajoon, who I had run into, stares at me in silence. It's almost like he's trying to read my mind.

"No, I was walking fast."

Dohyun raises an eyebrow, "I could hear your heels clicking. You sounded like a herd of horses."

"Oh, maybe I should get new shoes-"

"Where were you?"

I look back at Hajoon, "I went to the break room to get some new bandages."

"Did something happen on your way back?" he asks.

My mind replays the encounter with the janitor. I only heard two sentences, and they were out of context. Is that really something to worry about? He may think I'm stupid for worrying about it.

"No, nothing happened."

"We'll discuss this later."

Dohyun looks as shocked as I feel. "Well, it's late. We should all go home now."

"Agreed, I'll see you two later," Hajoon says, walking away.

Dohyun and I watch, realizing that he's not walking to the elevator. When he turns down the hall, we turn to each other.

"That man never stops working," Dohyun says.

When we get to my house, Dohyun decides to spend the night. He tells me goodnight and disappears into the guest room. I, however, change into my pajamas and sit on my couch. My phone dings, and I turn it on to see a text.

'Lying isn't a hobby you should develop. We'll discuss this further tomorrow morning. -Wi Hajoon'

I lean my head back and sigh. Maybe telling him would've been easier than denying.
