Chapter Four: Snooping Sister & Second Dates

---

For the rest of the afternoon, Billie kept glancing over at Finneas with a grin, half-amused and half-curious. Every time his phone buzzed, his face would light up, and she’d catch him smiling down at the screen, totally oblivious to anything else.

“Are you really going to keep smiling at your phone all day, or are you going to let me in on this mystery girl?” Billie teased, leaning over to get a peek at his screen.

Finneas laughed, pulling his phone out of her reach and giving her a playful glare. “Hey, some things are private, you know!”

“Oh, come on! I just want to see what she’s saying that’s got you acting like a lovestruck fool,” she said, nudging him in the side.

“Not a chance,” he chuckled, tucking his phone in his pocket as it buzzed again. “But if you must know, we’re just making plans to meet up soon.”

“Ooooh,” Billie cooed, drawing out the word with a smirk. “Where are you taking her this time?”

Finneas shrugged, trying to play it cool. “We haven’t decided yet. But I’m thinking of going back to that French café where we had our first date.”

Billie raised an eyebrow, grinning even wider. “Wow, could you be any more of a cliché?”

Finneas just laughed, pulling out his phone to reply to Y/N, not even trying to deny it. "I already told her I’m an American cliché. Missing her while waiting in a French café just proves it, right?”

Billie rolled her eyes, but there was a warmth in her smile. “You’re a hopeless romantic, Finneas, and you know it. But she sounds like she’s good for you.”

“She is,” he replied, a soft look crossing his face. He typed quickly, sending Y/N a message:

“Can’t wait to see you again. Should we recreate our first date? This time, I’ll try not to be so ridiculously American and cliché about missing you while I’m waiting.”

Almost instantly, his phone buzzed back.

“Only if you promise to be exactly as cliché as last time ;)”

He grinned, his heart doing that familiar little flip at her reply. Turning back to Billie, he shrugged, a slight blush creeping into his cheeks. “What can I say? Some clichés are worth it.”

Billie watched him, both amused and genuinely happy for him. She’d never seen Finneas this smitten before, and it made her excited to meet Y/N someday. For now, though, she’d let him enjoy his “cliché” romance.

And as Finneas typed back a response, planning the details of their next date, he couldn’t help but feel like he was in the middle of something straight out of a movie—one where, somehow, he was the one who’d gotten lucky enough to meet her.
