Chapter Fifteen: Quiet Moments
---
As the night wore on, they could all feel the weight of sleep tugging at them. Billie stretched, stifling a yawn. “Alright, I’m tapping out. See you two in the morning,” she mumbled with a sleepy smile, giving them a little wave before heading to her room.
Once she was gone, Finneas turned to Y/N, his gaze warm and a bit hesitant. “You know… if you’d like, you could… um, stay in my room tonight? We could watch something until we fall asleep,” he said softly, his cheeks tinged with a light blush.
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat, but she nodded, giving him a shy smile. “I’d like that.”
They quietly made their way to Finneas’s room, the coziness of the space making Y/N feel instantly comfortable. He grabbed a spare blanket and threw it over the bed, adjusting pillows to make it extra cozy. They settled in together, her head resting against his shoulder as he flipped through channels, finally landing on an old sitcom that had them both chuckling.
Every so often, one of them would make a little joke or comment, and they’d exchange soft smiles, feeling like they were in their own little world. Finneas couldn’t help but watch her, taking in the way her eyes sparkled, the way she laughed at the simplest things, and how her face softened as she grew more comfortable.
At one point, Y/N glanced up at him, her gaze lingering. “You know, I never thought I’d meet someone who just… gets me like you do.”
Finneas reached over, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “I feel the same way. Being with you feels like… I don’t know, like I’ve known you forever.”
She smiled, leaning her head back on his shoulder. “It’s nice to feel like I belong somewhere.”
They sat in comfortable silence, the TV playing softly in the background. Finneas wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. “You’ll always have a place with me, Y/N. Promise.”
She nestled into him, her eyes closing slightly as she soaked in the warmth and safety of his presence. They stayed like that for a while, whispering sweet words, sharing gentle smiles, and feeling an unmistakable sense of rightness.
Eventually, as their eyelids grew heavier, Finneas reached over to turn off the TV. He glanced down at her one last time, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head. “Goodnight, Y/N,” he murmured softly.
“Goodnight, Finneas,” she whispered back, a small smile on her face as she drifted off, feeling more at peace than she had in a long time.
