After damn near a year of her asking, I've finally agreed to meet up with my sister.

"Take a fucking taser or something." Kelly says.

"I'm taking Megan. A taser would be overkill." I joke.

Megan and I walk hand-in-hand into the cafe and Keri and I immediately spot each other.

Seeing my sister for the first time in 5 years is something.

I feel so many emotions.

Megan goes to the counter to grab herself a coffee and me a tea.

I sit down across from Keri.

"You look great." She says softly.

"Thank you." I respond.

She looks good, too, but I'm not telling her that.

"Is that your girlfriend?" She asks glancing over to Megan.

"Yeah." I respond.

"She's gorgeous." She says.

"I know." I answer.

We fall into an awkward silence until Megan returns with the drinks and sits down, placing a protective arm around me.

"Hi. I'm Keri." My sister says extending a hand to Megan.

"Hey. Megan." Meg says dryly.

She high key doesn't want to be here and higher key doesn't want me here.

"What do you want, Keri?" I ask her.

"I miss you." She says.

"I find that really hard to believe." I tell her.

"I get how you would feel that way. I was awful to you." She says.

"You were." I agree.

"I apologize, Beyoncé. Honestly." She says.

We fall silent for a moment.

I don't know what to say.

Accepting her apology is whatever to me.

I'm not really pressed either way.

I do have a question though.

"Why were you such a bitch to me?"

"I don't know. I guess I was jealous." She responds.

"That's crazy. You had all of the attention. You were the child they actually loved." I say.

They loved Keri, liked Stayve, and despised me.

"I had their attention but you had everybody else's. Everybody likes you. Only mom liked me. I did whatever I could to stay her favorite. " She says.

"Liked? Y'all aren't close anymore?" I ask her.

"Not really. She's weird. I backed up off of her when she kept Shawn around after you left him..."

My own mother being my opp is still so crazy to me.

I would never treat Jovanna or Mason even a fraction of the way Tina treated me.

And I would never encourage them to mistreat each other the way my mother encouraged Keri to do to me.

Becoming a parent really put into perspective how fucked up my mother treated me.

Maybe the pressure Keri was under to stay in our mom's good graces was just as bad?

Probably not but I guess it's possible.

--2 days later--

Megan is finally 20 years old today.

It took her long enough.

She didn't want to do anything for her birthday and she made it super clear to our friends that she just wanted to be with me and the kids.

Everything has been crazy as fuck lately and she wants a relaxing birthday without our loud ass friends.

I definitely get it.

She lays on the floor between MJ and Jojo playing with their toys when he randomly looks at her and says "mama."

His tiny voice reverberates around the room.

Megan sits up and looks over at me to confirm what she heard.

I definitely heard it, too.

"What did you say, Mace?" She asks him hopefully.

"Mama." He repeats pointing to her before turning to point at me, "Mama."

"Holy crap!" I exclaim happily.

"Who am I?" Megan asks him.

"Mama."

"And who is she?"

"Mama."

"Great job, baby!" I smile.

He points at his sister.

"Jojo."

"Dude, you're talking!" Megan says grabbing him in a hug.

He giggles.

This is amazing.

I know none of the gifts she got or will get today will compare to this moment.

We haven't heard him make any sound since he got here now he's laughing and saying a few words.

And to make everything even sweeter, he thinks of me as his mom.
That's so special to me.

"Are you okay with him calling you his mom?" Megan asks nervously.

"Of course I am, baby. MJ is our son. Period." I tell her.

Anyway, we met with Keri. Do y'all think she's sincere? Should Beyoncé try to build a relationship with her?
