Beyoncé:
Megan comes out of the airport with the little boy on her hip and damn he looks just like her.
Same eyes, same nose, same curly hair.
I really think this is her son.
I hop out of the car and give her an awkward kiss.
Everything feels so off right now.
She puts him down for a moment to strap his car seat in and he holds onto her leg tightly.
I kneel to his level.
"Hi Mason. I'm Beyoncé." I say softly.
He hides behind her.
"He hasn't spoken yet." She says quietly.
"He just needs time." I say watching him peer at me from between her legs.
He seems like he knows Megan is his mom. She's already a safe space for him.
I get it. She's a safe space for me, too.
She straps him into the car seat and he curiously peers over at Jovanna.
"That's your sister Jojo." I tell him.
"Babe, we don't know if they're siblings yet." She says quietly.
"Megan, look at him." I tell her. She does and they make the same curious expression. "He's your twin."
"I have to get that on paper."
When we get home Megan takes him upstairs for a bath while I feed Jojo.
I don't even know how to feel.
I'm frustrated I guess.
I thought I had her first child.
I know that's petty and selfish. Especially considering Jojo wasn't my first pregnancy.
And she had no idea he was out there so I can't really be frustrated with her.
I'm frustrated with her ex for not telling her.
I feel bad that she missed the first 4 months of my pregnancy with Jojo but with Mason she's missed the first 3 years.
If he is hers she'll never get over losing that time with him.
I take Jojo upstairs to change her diaper.
Megan is drying Mason off as I pass the bathroom.
"Beyoncé, can you come here for a second." She calls.
The tone of her voice troubles me a little.
I double back to the bathroom.
"Look." She says quietly showing me Mason's back and stomach.
