COLETTE'S POV:
We had all just exited the flying Dumbo ride as I naturally gravitated towards Johnny. I was trying my best not to step any boundaries, since he just broke up with his girlfriend, but I found it difficult with how cute he looked. We were also starting to hit it off, since we kept having small conversations in each line we had to wait in.
"So...," I trailed off, stopping in my tracks when I heard a girl scream his name. He made the mistake of turning towards her, confirming who he was. At first he was polite and agreed to sign her backpack for her, but then more girls were catching on to his presence. I was starting to grow concerned as the crowd quickly grew, and he was being squished between everyone. I took a deep breath, since I was a bit claustrophobic before pushing to get close to him again. I had somehow ended up on the edge of all the commotion. I grabbed his wrist once I was able, roughly pulling him through the chaos. He kept his head down as his hand eventually grasped mine instead, us running straight for the best hiding spot. Thankfully I was familiar with Disneyland enough to know where the secret places were. We were able to ditch all of the girls who were confusedly searching for him.
"Thank you. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that," he softly told me once we caught our breath.
"Of course. I'm sorry that I pulled on your wrist so hard. There was just no other way to get you out of there."
"It's alright. I didn't mind at all." He removed his sunglasses to clean them off on the front of his shirt. I happened to meet my eyes with his beautiful brown, and I felt speechless since something felt different between us now. I looked down to break the spell, since I wasn't sure if it was just a fluke.
"I'm sorry. I know that you must be hurting about your breakup. I'm sure today hasn't helped much."
"It's helped a lot actually." I lifted my gaze as his eyes squinted against the sun streaming underneath the awning. "The getting mobbed part wasn't so great, but I've enjoyed the day other than that. You're good at cheering people up."
"Thanks, Laura does say that's one of my best qualities."
"If I'm being honest, my relationship with Winona was on the rocks for some time. It's felt like we had broken up for awhile now. We were just kidding ourselves."
"I'm still sorry," I reacted, forgetting how to draw the right words out of thin air.
"You don't need to keep apologizing. It wasn't your fault that things went south."
"So, you think you'll be doing any Disney movies anytime soon?" I accidentally glanced at his lips, hoping he wouldn't notice, but he seemed to be noticing mine too.
"I hadn't thought about it. I did the film, Ed Wood a few years ago now. I guess if they offered I might accept if I liked the script, or I might keep an eye out for future auditions."
"Yeah, you would be great in any movie. Ever think of doing anything with pirates?"
"Pirates? What made you think of that?"
"I don't know. You just seem like you would fit the part..."
"Yes, maybe a Peter Pan role or something if they did a live action..."
"Or an original story they had never done before."
"I have no idea what that would be."
"Me either," I breathed, our faces so close by this point our noses were nearly touching. "I don't know what you're thinking, but I don't want to be a rebound."
"You wouldn't be, trust me. I haven't thought that far, but I'm not trying to fill any emptiness. I might be in a bit of pain, but I've enjoyed getting to know you for who you are. If anything, you've become a friend to me today."
