The doors to the Institute burst open and Tavvy comes running in with snow in his hair.
"I told you you should have worn a coat." Julian lightly reprimands, following him in.
"He's going to have to learn on his own eventually." Emma advises, lightly laughing at Tavvy. Dru, Jamie, Ty, Helen and Aline follow. Clary walks into the foyer, drawn by the commotion, holding Lucy.
"They're here!" she calls back excitedly over her shoulder. Emma runs up to her and gives her a big hug.
"Who's here?!" Jace calls back, coming into the foyer himself, followed by Magnus, Max, Rafe, Christiana, Mark, and Diago. Rafe and Max run to Tavvy and tackle him to the ground. Jamie leaves Dru to go to Diego and Christiana and starts talking in Spanish. Mark goes to Helen first. Emma steals Lucy from Clary, excited to see her also."Is Kit here yet?" Ty asks no one in particular, but isn't heard over all the commotion.
Magnus kneels down next to Rafe, Max and Tavvy.
"Who wants hot chocolate?" he asks, and receives three excited "Me!" in response, as they race off to the kitchen. The door opens again, and Tessa, Jem, Kit, and Mina come in. Mina immediately toddles to Jace, who picks her up and gives her a kiss on her forehead. Ty runs to Kit, and gives him a kiss. Tessa smiles warmly at them, while Julians senses are heightened, he's still not a fan of his younger siblings dating. Jem joins Emma and Clary, and Emma gives him a hug. Jamie looks back at Dru, and calls her over to him, Diago and Christiana. She walks up to them, and he wraps his arm around her waist. Jamie and Dru haven't seen Diago and Christiana together since they started dating.
"So she's the reason you've been staying in LA." Diago teases his brother.
"Where else would I be? With you and Mark? No thanks." He retorts, shaking his head.
"I'm pretty sure we're not worse than Emma and Julian." Christiana laughs. "So you've finally dating?" she exaggerates.
"Yes." Dru answers, smiling. The doors open again, and Isabelle, holding Anna, Simon and Marise walk in. Marise ends up stealing Lucy from Emma. Isabelle walks over to Christina with a happy shout and gives her a hug. Jocylin and Luke come in with Venessa, their daughter. Luke could hear the commotion before he even opened the door. Marise doesn't get very long with Lucy before Jocylin takes her, so she takes her other grandbaby, Anna.
"You looking for the other kids?" Clary asks her sister, who nods her head. "I think Magnus took them to get hot chocolate." Clary provides, and Venessa runs off in the direction of the kitchen.
Magnus has gone back to the loft to wrap Max and Rafes Christmas presents. In years past, he's always wrapped gifts extravagantly with magic, and that's what he plans on doing this year. Before he can get started, their doorbell rings. He walks over to open the door, and finds Clary, Isabelle, Emma and Christian, who brought wrapping paper and bows.
"What in the name of the Angle are you doing here?" he asks, causing the girls to laugh at his Shadowhunter expression.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you like Shadowhunters." Clary teases, referring to the days when they first met, when he didn't want to work with young Shadowhunters. He steps aside, letting them in.
"We're here to teach you how to properly wrap presents." Isabelle answers with a smile, knowing her brother would usually be here for this.
"We know you wrap them with magic every year." Clary adds.
They spread out the wrapping paper on the table, and Magnus makes one of Max's presents, a mundane hoverboard appear.
"For Rafe?" Christiana asks.
"No, Max, but Rafe can use it also." The girls share a look.
"Does Alec know about this?" Isabelle asks, wondering if he would agree Max might be too young.
"No." Magnus answers.
"We're going to need a box to wrap this in." Emma says, changing the subject. Magnus makes a box appear around it. Magnus learns quickly how to wrap presents, even how to add extravagant bows, and glitter, of course.
Dru, Jamie, Ty and Kit are exploring the institute later that night.
"So you've never been to the New York Institute?" Dru asks Jamie.
"No, no real reason to come."
"I think it's better than in LA," Kit adds.
"You mean it has more hiding places." Dru clarifies.
"And less supervision." Ty adds.
"Yeah, easier to slip away unnoticed." Kit says.
"Don't give them any ideas." Ty says, giving Kit a small kiss.
"I'm not trying to get killed here so..." Jamie says, putting his hands up in mock surrender, but adding a devilish smile.
"No one is going to kill you." Dru says, smiling up at him before shooting a glare at Kit and Ty. Kit makes a face faking innocence. "Clarys really outdone herself." Dru says, admiring the decorations in the hallway.
"Look." Jamie says, gently tilting her head up with his index finger.
"Mistletoe." she breathes softly before he kisses her. The kiss starts gently, but she deepens it. He wraps his arms around her and pushes her up against the wall, forgetting about Ty and Kit. She winds her fingers through his hair. Julian barely gives them a minute alone in LA, so this is nice. She takes his lower lip between her teeth. He runs his hands down her back.
"By the fucking Angle Raziel!" Julian exclaims walking down the hall, and spotting them. Jamie slowly steps away from Dru, who can't help but let out a little laugh at her brother's use of mundane language, not even sure if he knows the words' double meaning. "I thought the two of you, Ty and Kit were chaperoning each other." Dru and Jamie didn't even realize they were gone. "Jamie, how many times do I have to tell you to keep your hands to yourself? I'm going to go ask Clary if she will take down the mistletoe." he says, turning back around the way he came. When he's out of earshot, Dru can't help but laugh at his reaction.
"I guess he realizes he can't really do anything with us dating now." Jamie says.
"And with Mark here." she adds. Mark was helpful when they first started dating, convincing Julian to let her date. He did not know that Jamie was four years older than her when he made his argument though.
