A day spent with Moony

I awoke on Sunday, ready for my date with Remus.  I dressed in my dark green corduroy bell bottoms with a fitted short sleeved Fleetwood Mac tee.  I left my hair down in loose curls.  I then skipped to my common room where Remus awaited me.  As he's been my friend since my first year, he's always been allowed inside. 

"Are you ready, Artemis?" Remus asked.

"I was born ready." I said. 

"Well then, let's go.  You too, Luna!" Remus said.

Luna yipped in excitement as she bounded to us.

Once we reached the Black Lake, Remus used his wand to enlarge a picnic basket.  He laid out a blanket, and we sat down.  Luna laid down across the opposite end of the blanket. Every now and then, she'd growl when a tentacle from the giant squid snuck out to poke her.  The two were friends of sorts.  Remus had a rabbit for Luna and then breakfast for us.  Others might be sensitive to watching a wolf chow down on a bunny, but as someone with a wolf inside her, it didn't bother me.

"I invited Luna along because I thought we could all run together through the Forbidden Forest." Remus said after we had finished breakfast.

I could feel my wolf's excitement, so I nodded.  Remus cleaned up whilst Luna and I ran into the forest.  I quickly stripped before shifting into my wolf.  She was a dark brown wolf that was nearly black.  Our eyes were still hazel green, but the gold ring was more pronounced around our pupils.  I ran out of the forest and danced Remus feet as I waited for Moony.  Luna joined me in circling around the man.  He chuckled as he pet both our heads.  He went deeper in to strip and shift. 

Then his wolf gave a howl, and we howled in response as we ran to meet him.  Moony led our pack on a hunt.  We weren't really hunting for the kill.  It's more like just having fun giving chase to other creatures in the forest.  It had likely been hours when we found a spot where dappled sunlight was shown through the trees.  We all laid out in that sunlight panting and feeling free.  I think I napped for an hour or two before Moony woke us both up. 

We ran to where we left our clothing and shifted back.  I redressed before stepping out of the forest.  Luna immediately ran into the Black Lake and began swimming around with the squid.  Remus joined me, and we went back to the lake where he once again laid out blanket.  He sat down with his back against a tree and his legs out in front of him.  I laid on my back with my head in his lap.  He began reading to me from a muggle novel.  I was eating grapes as I listened while tossing one up to him every now and then.

I was listening to Remus read whilst also thinking about us.  This date felt safe.  But not the settling safe choice kind of safe.  Where the person stops waiting for THE ONE and settles on the safe option?  It's not that kind of safe.  It is a comforting safe.  I do feel the sparks.  The butterflies in my stomach.  The chemistry between us.  It was all there.  But he also felt safe and comfortable. 

He's someone my wolf can be with, and honestly, both our wolves are mated to each other already.  It happened last year in a game of chase. Moony tackled my wolf and gave her the mating bite.  Remus and I never talked about it.  Both wolves looked at Luna as their pup even if she now towers over Artemis.

Dumblydor POV

I stared down at the two half breeds creatures from my office.  I watched her toss a grape into Lupins mouth.  I clenched my fist and ground my teeth in anger.  I had a plan.  I was going to sacrifice her to Tom.  Give him his bride as he'd be that much more powerful, thus terrifying with her by his side.

Then Potter was to be with the mud blood Evans and have a kid.  All would be sacrificed so no one from the Peverell line stood in his way.  He'd become master of Death.  The Potter offspring would take out Tom, who is from the line.  Tom would also take out the Potter brat.  All Peverell lines severed.

I even had plans for sacrificing the Black family.  They also have ties to death hence, Sirius animagus being the Grimm.  I just couldn't have that.  No, they'd be sacrificed for the greater good as well.  But this halfbreed bitch is getting in the way.  I fixed the Sirius problem.  But now she's striking a love match with three guys.  Most importantly, one is Potter.  I will not stand for this.  This girl is getting too smart, and it's entirely that insufferable ghost Merlin’s fault.

I've tried finding where she lives but am unable to, which is driving me mad.  I can't take care of the Merlin problem completely, but I can at least cut off her access to the ghost here in Hogwarts.  With that goal in mind, I glance down at the half breeds on more time.  I then head to the Hufflepuff common room.  I'm pleased no one is in the room as I destroy the portrait.

Once that was done, I wondered how I should handle the Potter problem.  I decided I'd use the method that worked for Sirius.  Now that I was in a better mood, I whistled on my way back to my office.

Gwendolyn’s POV

Night was falling, so I whistled for Luna.  She came out of the lake and shook off the excess water.  I used a charm to dry her while Remus cleaned up.  We walked to my common room hand in hand.  When we reached the portrait, Diggory was waiting.

"Prepare yourself, Silver.  Someone vandalized our common room." Diggory said.

I rushed inside and saw the destruction.  Most importantly, I saw my grandfather's portrait destroyed.

"Stardust!" I called out.

Immediately, my house elf popped in.

"Yes, Mistress?" Stardust asked.

"Did Merlin say who did this?" I asked.

"Yes, Mistress.  But he asked me not to say out loud.  He wrote this letter." Stardust.

I took this letter from Stardust and she popped back home.  I then realized Diggory and Remus were right there.

"I suspected for a while.  I figured it's why you turned down being Prefect." Diggory said.

"You haven't said anything to anyone?" I asked.

"I haven't voiced my suspicion.  I vow on my magic not to tell anyone until you're ready." Diggory said as his wand lit up.

"I'll explain in a moment." I said to Remus.

I then took the moment to read the letter.

"Remus can you go get James and his cloak and meet me back here?" I asked.

Diggory didn't ask to be included.  He just began cleaning our common room.  I helped whilst waiting on my lions.  We'd just finished cleaning when the boys arrived. 

"Luna you stay here.  You won't fit under the cloak." I told my wolf.

Luna nodded before padding over to the fireplace and curling up.  Diggory was gone so he didn't learn this secret as James covered us in his cloak.

"We're going to Mopsus portrait.  It's between our common room and Slytherin's common room." I said as we left Hufflepuff.

Once we reached the portrait I whispered the password in parsel tongue.  The portrait swung open and we entered the office of Salazar Slytherin.  I stepped out of the cloak and the boys removed it.

"No way." James said.

"Is that.." Remus trailed off.

"Yes, it’s Salazar Slytherin." I answered.

"WHAT BROUGHT ALL OF YOU TO MY OFFICE?  NOT A SINGLE SNAKE IN SIGHT." Salazar shouted.
