1 Year Later ----

Micah pushed her glasses up her nose again.

She really needed to get them refitted.

But as she glanced up from her notebook to her monitors her eyes stared to feel the fatigue of the deep dive into her work.

Her phone buzzed on the desk and she flipped it over to see it was Baahir calling.

"Crap" she grumbled as she swiped to answer.

"Hello, Micah. Umm, it's Baahir...." his Egyptian accent was stronger when he was nervous. She liked that.

"Hey, Baahir."

"So are we still on for tonight?" he asked, nerves soaking his voice in jitters.

"Yeah! Absolutely!" She glanced at the clock on the wall. She could get ready for a first date in 30 minutes. No biggie.

"Cool! Well, I am about to hop in the subway and be there in about....oh 20 minutes?"

Great.

"Yeah! That's great! I'll see you down at the lobby!"

"Great! Looking forward to it!" Baahir replied before hanging up the phone.

Micah hurried to save all her work from the afternoon and evening and quickly she closed down her workstation. She darted into the elevator and as soon as the door shut she unbraided her hair and flipped her head upside down. Her fingers loosened up the roots and she tried to make her hair as fluffy as possible.

In reflection of the steel walls, she used her fingers to wipe the smeared eyeliner away from under her tired, bloodshot eyes.

She dug into her tote bag and pulled out her eye drops, applying a few drops right as the doors opened.

Pepper Potts walked in with her eyes glued to her phone.

"Good evening, Dr. Drake."

"Good evening to you too, Ms. Potts."

Micah straightened the collar of her shirt as she peeled off her lab coat. One of her many pins snagged in her hair and she let out an involuntary grunt.

Pepper glanced up, "let me help with that." She untangled the button and Micah thanked her as her cheeks burned warm.

Well, this is embarrassing.

"Ravenclaw," Pepper examined the loosened pin before handing it to Micah. "Not surprising."

Pepper looked Micah up and down finally noting what an odd mess she was.

"Uh, I forgot about a date....a first date at that." Micah offered.

"Oh! How fun! When is the lucky person showing up?"

Micah looked at her watch, "he's meeting me downstairs in 15 minutes."

"Well, good luck with that!" Pepper chuckled as they got to the dormitory fool and Micah practically ran out.

Once in her room she stripped out of her clothes and grabbed a vintage floral dress that she'd found thrifting last week with Amanda, another one of Tony's brainiacs. She pulled the smocked dress over her hair and admired the cute white and red floral print.

She ran into the bathroom swiped a fresh coat of mascara and quickly put in her contacts. A quick spritz of her favorite lavender perfume and a crocheted headband over her hair and she was ready to go.

"Told ya," she said to herself in the mirror. "Ready with 3 minutes to spare!"

She slipped on her trusty Birks and grabbed her purse before locking her room behind her.
