Chapter Eleven
{Marlene}
It has been three days since Rose was admitted into St. Mungo's and two days since her attack was reported in the Daily Prophet.
I am sitting in a chair by Rose's bed, half asleep. We have our own room, mainly because sometimes Rose just randomly starts screaming and has fits, which disturbs the other patients.
The door opens and I sit up; Rose is still asleep.
Healer Moore enters the room, smiling, "There is someone who would like to see you, Marlene," she says.
In walk Mum and Dad.
I run over and hug Mum so tight, sobbing with relief, "We're here Marley," Mum says, "don't worry,"
I hug Dad next, "Hey it's okay, babygirl,"
They go over to Rose's body and stroke her forehead and suddenly my relief turns into anger, "What the hell?!" I snap.
"Marlene, honey," Mum says, a poor attempt to try and stop me.
"No Mum! What the hell?! Who just disappears of the face of the planet and leaves me to pick up the pieces of their twelve year old!"
"Marley, we were just trying to protect you," Dad says.
"Stop calling me Marley! I'm seventeen, not five! It's so patronising! Tell me! Tell me what you were thinking!"
"We thought by not telling you we were protecting you, and ourselves, we thought it would be safest," Dad tells me.
"Yeah, well that kind of fucked up, didn't it," I mutter angrily.
"Marlene!" Mum says angrily, "Don't swear!"
I laugh hollowly, "Swearing is the least of your problems right now,"
They don't say anything, until Mum sighs, "We really are sorry Marlene, we never dreamed that something like this would ever happen at Hogwarts, maybe it will be best if you come back with us,"
I am about to accept the apology, but then I register the other part Mum had just said, "What? Come back with you?!"
Mum and Dad share a look, "Yes, we were talking about it on the way up. It's obviously not safe for you anymore," Dad says calmly.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me!"
"Marlene!"
"I can't leave Hogwarts, my friends are there and Sirius!"
"Look, we just don't think it's safe anymore! We're not just going to let you stay there because of friends and a boyfriend," Dad says firmly.
I am about to retort when Rose murmurs and her eyes flutter open, "Mum? Dad?"
"Oh Rosie! We're so sorry!" Mum says hugging her.
Dad hugs her next, but Rose looks a bit dazed by their abrupt appearance.
Suddenly her eyes roll back, showing only her whites.
"Shit," I mutter.
"What's happening?" Mum cries, "Marlene?!"
But I have already jumped up and am calling for a healer; Rose is about to have one of her screaming fits.-
{Sirius}
It has been six days since Marlene left for St. Mungo's and in that time around 50 students have been taken home by parents because of the article in the Daily Prophet.
I am sitting in the Common Room with James and Peter who are planning an elaborate prank; Remus is off with Daisy Matthews, probably snogging her and talking about books at the same time. I am supposed to be helping with the prank but I am to wrapped up in my thoughts about Marlene to even think about anything else. She hasn't written to me since the letter McGonagall gave me, despite the fact that I have written to her twice since then.
"See you Padfoot," James says, standing up and clapping me on the shoulder.
"What? Where are you going?" I ask, confused.
"Training, the game's tomorrow... Have you not been listening to our whole conversation?"
I shake my head.
"Mate, just give it a rest. She's going to be fine. Take your mind off it and plan the prank with Pete." James tells me.
"Yeah, okay, whatever," I say vaguely.
"So, Pete, what's this prank?" I ask, as James disappears.
"Uh, we're trying to work out how we can bewitch the door to the Slytherin's Common Room so that the new password is 'Gryffindor rules, Slytherin drools', or something along those lines, except we're kinda stuck, I think we need Moony," he says.
I am about to reply when James calls me, "Padfoot! Mate! There is someone you'll want to see here!"
I turn around and see Marlene, "Marls!!" I cry.
I run over to her and hug her, swinging her around.
She laughs, and kisses me when I put her down, "I missed you," she says.
"Me too," I say, kissing her again and again.
"Whoever though you two would become clingy," James pipes up.
"We're, we're not clingy!" Marlene says with disgust.
Marlene and I have always hated clingy couples, couples who are so co-dependent that they can't last even a few days without each other. But this is different, because of the circumstances, we are not clingy!
"I was joking, don't worry," James says with a laugh, "I'm glad your back Marls," he adds, giving her a hug.
"Same, I mean, I love Rose, but it was so suffocating staying there with them," Marlene says.
"Them?" I ask.
"Yeah, my parents came, but I don't want to talk about it right now,"
"Well if you don't want to talk, our dormitory is completely empty..." James says with a smirk.
Marlene raises an eyebrow at me, "Let's go," she whispers with a grin, leading me to the boys' dormitory and up the stairs.
