Will

Will had been attacked a long time ago. Half of his face is scarred and he's missing an eye and an ear.

Now he lives in the basement so the monsters he makes don't hurt anyone else.

He showed up six years ago in an ornate robe and was set on befriending Micheal, the only other eleven-year-old. That didn't happen and Will let him be.

Micheal would sooner hang out with a clown than Will, the notorious pushover—and eighty per cent human.

Will was trying so hard to compensate for his confirmed humanity that he was usually sick from stress. It was very counterproductive. His experiments didn't even respect him.

He'd been an obvious deserter of the Orchestra from the markings on his neck and back. When he got the scars, it was harder to see. People who knew had left the house soon enough.

It was hard to miss that he wasn't from the village. He acted too weird when they snuck out. Nobody else had the patience to save up the money they found, so he's the designated grocery guy and very respected by enjoyers of the insane stuff he comes back with.

Mrs Hive was unsure how to feel about him getting most of the Harrow House into hair dye.

He procrastinates his work by talking to the new people and solving problems. Every now and then Micheal would even ask Will to join him to complete one of Mrs Hive's tasks.

Will liked spending time with him. He was interesting.

Sometimes at night, Will thought about trying to make a person out of spare parts. He had access.  If he did make someone it would be a man like Micheal.

Only that was weird and he shut the thought down so fast. Making another Micheal wouldn't solve any problems he or Micheal had with one another.

He thought he should just help give Micheal space. Help keep the kids out of trouble - and the basement.

They respected him more than the monsters. It seemed entirely likely that respect was based on how many teeth people had. Most of the residents hadn't gotten all their molars yet.

In fact, he kept finding clumps of blood and teeth in the cabinets and wardrobes.
