Archibald

I sat at the writing desk, awaiting my betrotheds arrival. I had already removed the mask and bandages since I'd not be able to eat otherwise, and she prefers to see my face anyways, for some reason.

*knock knock*

"Come in!" I spoke. As the door clicked open I put my pen down and turned in my chair, facing the visitor. It was indeed my beloved, the most beautiful woman in the entire world.

"Oh, I'm always a bit surprised when I see you without the coverings." She smiled bashfully. "In a good way!"

I smiled back, and outstretched my hand towards her. She approached me and placed her hand in mine, looking down at me as she was still standing.

"Why have you summoned me?"

"Have you eaten yet?" I asked softly.

She looked confused but shook her head. "No, I was about to."

Good, she is perfectly hungry and just in time for the meal Adamus brought back.

I pushed myself to a stand and approached the bells along the wall, pulling the string for the meal call. She watched me curiously, and I noticed her quite obviously look over my clothes for the day.

"What?" I asked amused.

"Nothing I just, I like that tunic. And the pants..." I saw her cheeks turn rosy and pressed my lips into a smile.

"Maybe that's why I wore them."

She shook her head and turned away from me, facing the far wall. I laughed softly and walked past her, putting my hands on the balcony doors. I pushed them open, revealing the dark wasteland skies littered with stars. On the balcony before us was a small table, just for two, and a candle, sitting next to a rose.

Sheera gasped as she walked up next to me. "You did this all for me? Your majesty why? It's so beautiful!"

"Have I done too much?" I chuckled slightly.

"No! I love it- it's so beautiful and romantic." She turned to face me, having to look up quite a bit. "I love you, thank you."

"I love you too." I smiled. When she spoke those words, though I've heard them many times now from her lips, they caused a stir within me. Like my body tingled, or seized up. My heart will race, and I find myself suppressing the masculine urge to take her as I wish. She is so beautiful, so perfect and pure, she's intelligent and wise, outspoken and strong willed. How lucky a man I am, God surely has blessed me in this life with much more than I could ever ask for.

*knock knock*

I looked to the door, then back down to Sheera. "Wait here my love."

She nodded and watched from behind as I approached the door. I opened it enough to see the servant delivering it, but not enough to reveal that to Sheera.

"Oh, your highness!" She spoke surprised. Usually they just take the food in and put it down for me, and I'm usually masked.

"It's alright, thank you." I smiled gratefully.

She nodded and blushed slightly, bowing her head and scampering away. She must've been quite young, her body language was anxious and excitable at the same time.

I let the door close behind me and looked down at the plate of food. It was indeed a hearty looking roast dinner, but one of decent quality. I brought it to Sheera who was now sitting at the small table, across from my own seat, and watched the plate carefully as I lowered it to the table in front of her.
