Chapter 03

Yugyeong who isn't feeling well and is only lying on her bed decided to call for her husband.

"Soonyoung?"

"Yugyeong ah, why?" He asked as he answered the call.

"When you're on your way home later, can you buy me anything sweet, like chocolates or candies." She asked with her weak sounding voice.

"What's wrong, are you sick?" Soonyoung immediately stood up as he asked when he noticed how weak and low her voice sounded and that's when he heard her coughed.

"I have a fever."

"I'll go now. Is there anything else that you need?"

"No, not now Soonyoung. I mean later, when you're on your way home after work." She said.

"No, I'll go now." He insisted. Soonyoung ended the call and grabbed his belongings, he went straight to his manager's office.

"Mr. Park, I'm so sorry but can I take half day leave today? My wife's not feeling well and she's alone at home. I need to take care of her." Soonyoung looked so serious, Mr. Park who knew Soonyoung as an employee that never take unnecessary leave turned to look at him with a surprised look.

"Yes, sure. Go ahead, Soonyoung."

"Thank you, Mr. Park."

Soonyoung rushed to the nearest pharmacy shop to buy a medicine that could help reduce fever for his wife. He even went to the convenience store to buy some snacks and chocolates for her. When he believed that he've bought everything that she needs, he rushed his way to the apartment.

"Yugyeong." Soonyoung opened the door of the bedroom and saw his wife sleeping with sweats on her forehead. He immediately went to her and put his palm on her forehead.

"You have a very high fever." He murmured.

He prepared a glass of water and put it on the nightstand. He sat beside the bed and hold her warm hand. He didn't know why, but he's worried sick of her. The kind of worry that he's feeling right now is different and it's making him feel uneasy.

"Soonyoung." She called.

"Yugyeong ah."

She tried to sit with the help of Soonyoung.

"Here, I bought everything that you need." He handed her the plastic with snacks and chocolates inside.

"Thank you."

Yugyeong eat the chocolate bar. A smile appeared on his lips as he watched her eat.

"You eat sweets when you have a fever?" He asked, still smiling.

"Yeah, I just crave for sweets whenever I have a fever. Thank you for these, I'll pay you back." Hearing that, Soonyoung immediately shook his head.

"Please, you don't have to."

After taking the medicine, Soonyoung told her to take a rest. While she's sleeping, Soonyoung never leave her side, he sat beside the bed and hold her warm hand the whole time, staring at her.

Why does it concerns him to see her like this? He didn't want her to get sick, it feels like it's better if he's the one who's sick instead of her.

"Are you sure that you wanna come to the annual dinner? Maybe we don't have to, it seems like your fever is not gone yet." The worried Soonyoung tried to refuse his wife who's now trying to get ready.

"It's okay, I already eat my medicine. I'm fine now, Soonyoung." She flashed him a convincing smile. Soonyoung heaved a sigh and went to her, he put his palm on her forehead, she's indeed getting better, but he didn't want her to be going out when she just recovered from the fever.

"Okay, but we'll leave early so you can rest early as well." He said.

He went out of the room and let her get ready. Soonyoung is already dressed in a black suit, just waiting for his wife.

"Do I look okay? Does it look like I actually put a lot of effort? I just wanted to look simple. All your coworkers would be there, right? I'm kind of nervous." She said the moment she went out of the room to show Soonyoung.

Soonyoung couldn't say anything as he stared at her in awe.

He stood up.

"You look beautiful." He smiled. Yugyeong couldn't help but to smile as her cheeks turned red. Hearing Soonyoung's compliment for the very first time? Her heart flattered.

Arriving at where the annual dinner event takes place, the couple are greeted by his friends.

"You really bring your wife?!"

"You both looks good together."

"Why do you never show her to us before?"

And literally all of his friends are bombarding him with questions. Soonyoung's panicking to answer them one by one while it's actually making Yugyeong feels uncomfortable.

"Guys, this is my wife Song Yugyeong."

"Hello!"

"Nice to meet you!"

Soonyoung introduced his friends one by one and even tell her what their positions in the company are. The whole time she only nod her head with a little smile. It is awkward for her, but since he've helped her a lot, this should not be a big deal to her.

It wasn't really a huge hall. Since the company where Soonyoung works have only less than 50 employees, approximately there's only less than 100 people here attending the event.

But surprisingly there were a few performances from the employees. Five of Soonyoung's friend are currently performing a song. Jeonghan, Joshua, Jihoon, Seokmin and Seungkwan. All five of them have such a melodic voice, each of them have different voices and styles in singing but all of them combined together, no words could describe how perfect the music and the singing sounds.

"This happens every year?" She asked.

"Yes."

"I performed last year."

"You did?" She asked with widened eyes.

"I dance with Chan, Myeongho and Junhui." He smiled.

"You dance? Wow. Why didn't you perform as well this time?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"You're here, it's kind of embarrassing." He scratched the back of his head while wearing a sheepish smile.

"Why would it be embarrassing? I love watching performances like this." She frowned before crossing both her arms together. He didn't say anything, he only shook his head with a little smile.

There were only three performances. All of it are only singing but nonetheless everyone enjoyed it.

"How did you and Soonyoung met?" Asked Seulbi, Wonwoo's girlfriend.

"It's a long story."

"You know how I met my fiancé? I was actually his secret admirer, he was very famous in instagram. Well, he still is. One day he got transferred to my school, god it was such a drama." Said Seolhee before chuckling.

"Reminds me of me and Hansol. We both literally have this meme war every single day and that's how we fell in love. Time flies so fast!" Exclaimed Eunbyul before laughing and shaking her head.

"Guys, mine's a drama too. Wonwoo was literally my landlord and I literally wrote a book about it and he secretly read it? Now that I think about it again, he's so silly." Seulbi shook her head with a sheepish smile.

Yugyeong laughed along with them too. Hearing how they met their lovers are so funny yet also cute. Them sharing her their stories, she felt envious about it. Unlike her and Soonyoung who met through her aunt and his mom, it wasn't even cute at all.
