After we finished eating, everyone went to their rooms. I told Bucky I wanted to hang out with Tony for a little bit. Bucky considered waiting in the living room but I convinced him to go back to our room. Tony tinkered with one of his gadgets while I sat on top of a table, playing with one of his wrenches.
"So, have you gotten in touch with Thor since he left?" I asked Tony.
"No such luck," Tony replied. "It's a shame because he should be here. I need to find a way to keep in touch with the guy. Do you think they have computers on Asgard? Or I can give him a phone."
"Wouldn't you need to build a satellite or tower to have the phone work? Maybe he has something that he can give you instead. It'll be more advanced than you have right now—no offense."
"Too bad, I'm offended." Tony set his little device down and shrugged, "You just challenged me to come up with something. You know, with all the technology I've seen when those things attacked Manhattan, I'm pretty sure we can find a way to get in touch with Thor."
"Well, he's a god. Maybe you can pray to him."
Tony went to the mini fridge and pulled out two sodas for us. "How about I leave that up to you? You guys were closer."
"We weren't that close, Tony."
"Need I remind you I know what you two did at the Christmas party? When did we move into the compound again? Was it one or two years ago?"
"Oh, for the love of everything—Tony, nothing happened! You just refuse to believe the truth. Even after I showed you what really happened."
"How do I know you didn't alter it?"
"I don't even know how to do that," I rolled my eyes at him. I opened the soda can and took a sip. "And besides, I was raised Catholic. I don't need God to smite me for praying to a Norse god."
"Given that you're best friends with a Norse god, I think you stomped on God's heart already. All you need to do is make your rosary into his friendship bracelet." Tony leaned against his workbench. "Come on, make my day."
I rolled my eyes before I closed them. I didn't know how I was supposed to pray to Thor. So, I stuck to a prayer I did know. I just had to tweak it a bit. "Glory be to the thunder, the lightning, and his blessed worthy hammer."
"You did not just-"
I held up a finger, "I'm praying, Tony. Don't interrupt," I said without opening my eyes. "May he appear before us with his golden tangled locks." I opened my eyes slightly, hoping some flash would appear but closed them again. "Alright, let's be serious now. Thor, we need you to come back to Earth. We have a situation here, and we could really use your help. So, can you come or..." I opened my eyes and waited. No thunder, no crazy beam of light to ruin the grass. I shrugged at Tony, "Welp, worth a shot."
"Maybe you got to sacrifice a goat or something."
"Well, I already prayed so you can do the sacrificial ceremony. I think the full moon is tomorrow, too."
"Are you going to help me steal a goat?"
"Why don't you just buy a goat?"
"It'll be more fun stealing the goat."
"Ask Rhodey to help you. Goat eyes freak me out."
"Out of all the things you witnessed, goat eyes are a no for you?"
"You don't like being handed stuff," I reminded him. "So, how are Pepper and you?"
"Working it out day by day," he shrugged. "I proposed to her."
