We all sat on a single jet boat. Jake wanted to control the jet boat while I sat behind him and Lilly and Bruno behind me. The smugglers were going towards the island. The rain had now turned into a thunderstorm. It was lightning here and there. The smugglers had two sacks, one I had seen before had coal while the other had raw crystals of diamonds.
I never realised how good Jake controlled these boats. He gracefully controlled it and directed it towards the island. We were in the air every few seconds jumping over the huge waves that were caused by the winds. The smugglers were however better drivers.
They reached on the Small Paw and used something familiar at the back side of the island. It was the same red flashlight I had seen through the telescope. They pointed the flashlight towards a small yacht in the sea that was far away from the island. It seemed small but I realised that it was the ship the smugglers talked about. We reached the island at the other side of it.From there we saw the smugglers get back onto their jet boat and they started to go towards the ship.
We didn't want to go there. We thought it would be better to go there after the smugglers had reached there. The yacht was completely hidden behind the Small Paw all this time. We had just not realised. We watched the smugglers climb up the ship and go inside. The thing is that the ship didn't look like a smugglers' ideal ship. It was large but had three large chimneys. However, smoke didn't come out of them. From far away, I could see a large number of cylinders. There was a man standing on the deck.
We sat on our jet boat and sailed towards the ship. The rain was still raining heavily and the sea was rough. I looked back at the town. I could see the river falling from the Atherfall and several lights. The Hungry Bees' had not a single light on, though I may be wrong due to the immense darkness of the sea. As we neared the ship, I could see the amount of sludge around the sea. I wondered if it was flammable.
We saw a ladder near the lower deck of the ship going down into the sea. We neared our boat to that ladder and stopped it. One by one, we jumped into the sea and then climbed the ladder. It was slippery and slimy. After touching the ladder and other parts of the ship, and then smelling the sludge, I realised it was oil.
"Don't use fire around here." I said to Lilly and Jake buy my voice was suppressed by the sounds of the rain, the lightning and the winds. They looked at me confused. I did some actions to try and make them understand but they understood nothing.
We were on the lowest deck in the ship. There were a lot of cylinders here which I concluded that they were filled with oil. There were stairs leading up to the second floor. We walked up the stairs and onto the second deck. There were two men standing there looking the other side. This floor , too, was filled up with oil tanks. We ran behind the oil tanks (I wondered if Lilly and Jake had realised that those tanks were filled with oil).
Slowly walking behind them, we saw that the men had no weapons. I wonder why. There was a door leading to a room. We, however, had to find a way to distract them. Bruno. Yes, we should use Bruno to distract them. But how?
I looked at Lilly and Jake."We should use Bruno to distract them." I whispered to them but I realised that my throat didn't even generate a proper sound. Even if it was generated, it died the exact moment.
"WE SHOULD USE BRUNO TO DISTRACT THEM!"I shouted my heart at this. Lilly nodded, but sideways. Jake showed me a thumbs up. We were two to one so we decided to use Bruno for the sake of saving Beverton. Lilly had a treat for Bruno in her jeans' pocket. She threw it onto the wet floor behind the men. Bruno sprinted towards it and the men looked back. We ran towards the door and were able to make a successful entry into that room. Lilly for once looked back at the men but they had gone, and so had Bruno.
