What is cooking?
Is it a skill? Or parameter?
From the beginning, cooking is something that considered as a part of woman's duty. You can't be a proper woman if you don't know cooking. You will not find a good husband if you don't know cooking.
Your in-laws will criticize you for not knowing cooking. It was always woman's duty to cook food for her family. It defined what woman's role in this society.
On other hand, men are often told that cooking and kitchen aren't part of their duty. It was something belonged to woman and woman only. Thus, they never understand how limited and small the world of woman.
And in this era, women felt more liberated outside of kitchen. It wasn't because of they didn't like cooking, it was because they didn't understand how cooking can be only thing that defines them.
