One early morning, Sisonke found himself by the small pond behind the house, watching the mist rise from the water as the first light of day touched the earth. He was alone, but it didn't feel quite as lonely as it had before. He had learned something important in the past few weeks: strength didn't come from never being alone—it came from knowing that you could face the world on your own and still be okay.
Sisonke knelt by the water's edge, his fingers brushing the surface of the pond. He saw the reflection of his face, the boy who had once been afraid to look at himself in the mirror. Now, there was a new light in his eyes—a quiet confidence that hadn't been there before. It was the same confidence that had grown inside him, nurtured by the love and care he had received at Miracle House, and by the bond he had formed with the Shanbrook students.
Though Emma was far away now, she had given him a gift he couldn't lose. She had taught him that there was more to life than simply surviving—it was about living, about finding joy in the small moments, about embracing the possibility of change.
Sisonke smiled to himself as he stood up and dusted off his pants. The journey ahead of him would be long, but he was ready. He had learned to be his own strength, to embrace his vulnerabilities and transform them into something beautiful.
