Third person pov
'Ouch' Katherine thought to herself.
"You okay there babe? You're a little quiet." Dillon pointed out.
The girl looked over to him sending him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine."
"Really?" , the ginger lifted an eyebrow, "because the last time you said you were fine you really weren't and as a matter of a fact, every time that you have said that you weren't really fine so what's up?" Dillon dissected the situation bit by bit.
Katherine sort of sulked, looking at the path ahead of them; such a long way to go to get to the car from the restaurant.
"Katherine? What? Is it too far?" He read her expression.
'Well yes but no.' The girl responded in her mind.
She bit her lower lip, sort of moving her right foot to cross over the other.
Dillon looked down.
"It's the heels isn't it?"
Silence.
"Yup. Come on. Take them off and give them to me. I'll carry you." He put his hand out in a 'give it up' manner.
Katherine looked into his eyes before obliging. She liked that he figured it out but at the same time she didn't like that he knew that the heels would hurt her feet. Why? You may ask. Well, Dillon did ask her before they left if the heels would hurt her feet and she insisted it wouldn't so there's that.
"Good girl." He chuckled as he took the heels and then the girl into his arms, his hand wrapped under her back then under her knees so that he had a balance.
Katherine felt relief immediately. She wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him with a satisfied grin.
"Oh you're pleased with yourself aren't you?" Dillon asked sarcastically as they got closer to the car, not caring about whoever would give them weird looks because they loved hating on happy couples.
Katherine nodded enthusiastically.
"Spoiled." Dillon shook his head with a playful eye roll.
Yet he's the one that spoils her in the first place.
"Not spoiled. Just loved." Katherine corrected.
Dillon smiled, remembering the first time he told her that.
"True."
The couple smiled with each other, in love because while the world was around them, for them the world was found in each other's eyes.
They got into the car soon driving off into the night listening to soft tunes, one hand of Dillon's on Katherine's thigh and the other on the wheel as the said girl was sound asleep, as snug as ever because when she's with him, her brain completely turns off and trusts him entirely.
Dillon smiled at the sleeping girl before turning his head back to the road to get them home safely.
