tali rodriguez hates hospitals. she hates being inside those places where you're just reminded someone is ill. she remembers reading kid's books to jules while he was in a coma or coming back from lunch to tell him about the puppy she had seen at the park on the way there. afterwards, she just couldn't step inside a hospital without remembering how she would pray jules would wake up and walk out of there with her.

when her aunt passed away in 2018 she set her mind for it.

hospitals suck.

elias wolff did not know she hated them, tali made sure it stayed that way. then, he would say it isn't necessary to go there to be there for him and that it's the thought that counts, he's considerate like that. however, he's been there for her and she did promise to be there for him in such a hard time which is why she was outside of the wolff household at 6:45 am.

elias was meant to be at the hospital at 8 am, it was a 40 minute drive and there could be traffic so the family plus tali would leave for the hospital at 7 am.

ringing the doorbell she heard quick steps rushing towards the door only to be opened by none other than jack wolff.

"tali!" he cheered.

"jack!" she said equally as excited as the boy.

"you have to help dad." jack said, dragging the girl by the edge of her hoodie towards the inside of the house. "elias locked himself in his room and he won't come out." the youngest wolff complained with a groan.

"lead the way then." tali said playfully but internally worried.

would he call it all off?

"oh good, you're here." toto sighed in relief once he saw the driver walk towards where he stood.

"what's going on?" she asked.

"you're late." jack said, hugging her waist as he looked up at her.

"what?" she mumbled with confusion. "it's 6:50. i'm on time." she said, glancing at her watch.

"technically you're on time." toto agreed. "but you told elias you'd be her by 6:30 so-" toto explained.

"so he thought i wasn't coming." tali finished in understanding. "my uber got stuck in traffic, i'm sorry." tali began to apologize.

"no, don't. it's okay. just go in there and drag him out please. i'll go start the car." toto said tiredly. he was done with his son if he was being honest. he was literally throwing a tantrum because tali was ten minutes late.

he would laugh about it at the wedding though.

"okay. i've got him." she nodded as toto ripped jack from tali's hip.

nearing the door she knocked.

"i said it's over dad. don't try to convince me. it's not happening." elias shouted from inside the room.

"i thought you really wanted this?" tali began but the ending sounded more like a question as she took the gamble of opening the door without clearance from inside. she could've found elias shirtless or something. that would've been awkward.
