australia

tali rodriguez loves oscar piastri with her entire being. she would never deny that. she can talk to him about anything and everything. she really felt like she wouldn't be the girl she is today if it wasn't for the impact he has had in her life.

this said. he is at the very bottom of her list of favorite piastris. he has sisters, a mother and a step father that come above him.

kidding.

he still is her favorite, no scratch that, second favorite piastri. nicole exists, ok?

when she landed in australia and arrived at her hotel, she slept. she caught up on all the sleep she really needed after sleeping a very small amount of time the previous two nights.

the next morning, she was getting ready to walk around the streets when she received a facetime call from hattie piastri. placing her phone in front of her by the mirror in the bathroom as she greeted the girl with a smile.

"hey hatti-" she frowned. "osc?" she asked, puzzled.

"hi." he waved with a smile.

"why did you call through hattie's phone instead of your own?" she asked as she applied her mascara.

"because i feel like you're still mad at me for making you sleep on your couch last week." he said, placing the phone way too close to his face.

"i got over it." she said as she put the product away after she finished. "you're just dumb."

"why did you call anyway?" she asked as she grabbed the phone and walked out of the bathroom.

"mum wanted me to ask you to lunch." he said as he walked to the place tali knew as his kitchen, having been there before.

"hell yeah!" she said happily, eagerness laced in her voice. "i'll be there by noon. the bus stop is a block away." she said as she walked out of the room to get breakfast.

"i think you're the dumb one." oscar frowned.

"why?" she asked as the elevator closed behind her.

"because i'm picking you up, obviously." he said as he walked towards his sister's room.

"you don't have to." tali began, earning an unimpressed look from the australian.

"send me your hotel, i'm picking you up." he said as he knocked on the door, where tali heard a faint 'come in'.

"will you finally give me my phone back?" she heard hattie say as she appeared on her screen.

"hi tali." she said excitedly. "can't wait to see you later." she said with a bright smile.

"same!" she said as she sat down at a table, bidding both piastri's goodbye and promising to send her hotel info to her ex teammate.

oscar piastri is one of the sweetest human beings on earth. really. he is one of the kindest souls ever invented and that is owed to the beautiful home he grew up in. sisters, loving parents and a calm dynamic.

tali rodriguez loved to visit him. she didn't have any sisters so the piastri girls took it upon themselves to make sure she got the whole experience every time she went to australia and this time was no different.

as she sat next to hattie she spoke about how she had been doing in university and how excited she was to attend the race promising to go to her garage during a practice session, glancing at oscar to make sure he was alright with that, only to find him stuffing his face with a piece of bread, nodding slightly with what could've been a smile.

edie and mae were whispering to each other while looking at tali with small smiles and tali would be lying if she said it didn't freak her out.

after lunch, she was dragged to mae's room where she threw herself to the bed like she always did and saw the way the three piastri sisters looked at her eagerly.

"why are you staring?" tali shifted uncomfortably. "i always do this, it's nothing new." she shrugged when they didn't stop.

"that's not why we're staring." edie said as she threw herself to the bed next to tali.

"we saw the whole 'mystery man' thing on twitter." mae said as she laid her head on tali's stomach.

"whaaaaat?" tali asked, staring at the ceiling.

"don't play dumb. do you like elias?" hattie asked without hesitation.

"yeah." she said without thinking. "what? i mean, no, it's not like tha- wait. how did you know i liked him?" she fumbled.

"so you do like him." mae confirmed with a gasp.

"just don't tell your brother or he'll tell logan who will tell alex who will tell george who isn't even on the paddock right now, who will text it to lando who will then tell carlos and who will ultimately tell charles who will rant about it to max who will undoubtedly tell checo who will go and tell fernando who will talk about it with lance who will end up telling everyone at aston martin and before i know it everyone knows including elias which won't help my case since i may or may not have given him a friendship bracelet with the initials of 'hey stephen' which is practically a love confession." she said, sitting up and staring at the wall across the room imagining the worst case scenario in which elias mocked her as he threw the bracelet at her, making her succumb to darkness and move to the countryside until she grows old and dies in her little farm.

"tali, i don't doubt the drivers are the biggest gossipers in the paddock, but i highly doubt elias would reject you. he has heart eyes for you." hattie said as edie and mae nodded.

tali just sighed.
