Echoes of a Fading Heart
Part I: The Dawn of Us
In the quiet of a summer’s eve,
We met, and with it, time did weave
A tapestry of joy, so bright,
Your laugh a melody, my light.
The world seemed small, the path was clear,
Each step we took, I drew you near.
We spoke of dreams, and painted skies,
Of all the love we’d realize.Your hand, so warm, in mine would fit,
With every touch, the stars would lit.
We walked together, side by side,
No shadows cast, no tears to hide.
Your words were sweet, your kiss divine,
Each moment felt like love’s design.
I knew, I knew with all my heart,
This bond of ours would never part.In your embrace, I found my place,
Each day with you, a soft embrace.
The world was ours, the future bright,
In your eyes, I saw pure light.
We spoke of all that we would do,
The plans we made, the love we knew.
Time moved too fast, but we didn’t care,
In our hearts, we held it there.Part II: The Stirrings of Change
But even roses, fresh and fair,
Begin to wilt in summer’s air.
At first, the shifts were small, obscure,
A passing breeze, a moment’s blur.
You’d sigh too deep, I’d frown too long,
The rhythm we shared felt faint, not strong.
But love is blind, and hearts are kind,
We kept our faults, we turned blind eyes. But days grew heavy, nights too cold,
Our words grew sharp, our hearts turned old.
I asked you once, “What’s wrong with us?”
You said, “It’s nothing, love, no fuss.”
But in your eyes, the spark had dimmed,
The fire burned low, and hope had skimmed.
Still, I held on, so sure, so true,
Thinking that love would pull us through. The silence stretched, a bitter strain,
We argued more, felt less of pain.
But still, I held onto the hope,
That love could bridge the widening scope.
Your touch grew fleeting, cold as ice,
And I would wonder if this was life.
But in the quiet, I still remained,
Hoping that one day you'd explain.Part III: The Distance Between Us
We began to drift, like stars undone,
Caught in the pull of worlds unspun.
The space between us grew too wide,
No words, no warmth, no arms to hide.
I searched your face, a stranger there,
Your smile a mask, your eyes so rare.
Were you the same who once would laugh,
Who once held me in your steady grasp?I asked for truth, but you’d just sigh,
A hollow echo in your eye.
"Maybe we're broken," I'd confess,
But you’d look away, avoiding stress.
I tried to fight, to bridge the gap,
But love, once golden, now felt trapped.
And every word, and every plea,
Was met with silence, hard to see.The nights grew longer, the days were gray,
No light to guide, no warmth to stay.
I’d sit and wonder, in the dark,
If I still held any spark.
But when you left, I’d hear the sound,
Of my own heartbeat, crashing down.
A faint regret, a whispered wish,
That love would heal the tear, the dish.Part IV: The Quiet Ending
And then one night, you turned away,
Said you’d found peace, and couldn’t stay.
The words fell soft, but still they struck,
Like thunder roaring from the muck.
You kissed my cheek, and then the door,
Closed behind you—forevermore.
No tears, no words, no final cry,
Just a fading shadow as you passed by.I stood there, broken, torn, and still,
Your absence haunting, cold, and shrill.
The love we shared, now just a ghost,
A memory I longed to host.
I tried to call, to make you see,
But love, once lost, is hard to free.
I wrote your name in empty space,
And wiped away each tear-streaked trace.I wondered then if I had been wrong,
If love had never truly belonged.
But in my chest, a hollow throb,
Echoed the pain you left, so raw.
And though I wished for one more chance,
To hold you close, to share our dance,
The world was silent, and you were gone,
Leaving me to face the dawn. Now, I walk alone, in empty streets,
Where once our laughter used to meet.
The echoes of a love now dead,
A lifetime spent, a heart now bled.
The pieces scatter, far and wide,
And I remain, with none to guide.
The love we had is now a dream,
A faded star, a distant beam. And so I end this tale of mine,
Of love, once pure, now left behind.
In echoes soft, I’ll hear your name,
But never more will we be the same.
For love, once bright, now fades to dust,
And all that’s left is bitter trust.---
