Author's POV:

As Roshni left her shop, she avoided looking back, breaking the intense eye contact she'd shared with Saad moments before. Saad, still rooted in place, was taken aback by her silence. The sadness in her eyes lingered in his mind as he watched her walk to her car. She opened the door, and just as she slid inside, he noticed a tear slip down her cheek.

He frowned, silently wondering, 'Are those tears because of me?'

When he stepped forward to approach her, she hastily closed her door and drove off. Instinctively, he got into his own car and began following her. Roshni noticed Saad trailing her and increased her speed, desperate to keep her distance. Saad, determined to understand, matched her pace, staying right behind.

She finally reached her house and, without wasting a moment, parked and hurried inside. Saad watched from the street, his heart pounding, as she disappeared through the doorway.

Realizing he was at Asad's house, he leaned against his car, confused.

He called Asad, hoping for an answer to Roshni's unusual behavior. Inside, Asad's phone buzzed just as Roshni rushed into the house.

"What happened? Why are you barging in like you're being chased?" Asad asked, picking up the call.

On the other end, Saad listened closely. Roshni, still catching her breath, laughed and replied, "Bhaiya, abhi toh aayi hu saans toh lene do" (Brother, I just came in. Let me breathe).

The word 'Bhaiya' hit Saad like a revelation. Asad, her brother? The realization settled in 'That's why she kept her distance from me.' His thoughts tangled, Saad was too stunned to answer when Asad called his name through the line.

Asad, now confused, looked at his phone as Saad abruptly ended the call.

Inside, Asad was perplexed by Saad's silence. Meanwhile, Roshni took the opportunity to escape into her room, away from the lingering tension.
At his house, Saad made his way to his room, his mind racing. Hoping to quiet the whirlwind of thoughts, he stepped into a cold shower, letting the icy water calm his emotions. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he dried off and dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans, his mind still occupied with Roshni.

As he moved to sit on his bed, he glanced out the window, noticing the soft glow of the full moon. Drawn to its light, he sat beside the window, his gaze fixed on its silvery presence. In the moon, he saw Roshni's image, her hazel-green eyes haunting his thoughts. With a soft smile, he whispered to the night, imagining she was there with him.

"How, Roshni? How can someone be both breathtakingly beautiful and utterly captivating at once?" he said, a faint blush coloring his cheeks.

"What makes your hazel-green eyes so enchanting?" he continued, chuckling softly. "They cast a spell that makes someone as cold as I am melt" Pausing, he sighed. "Why are you distancing yourself from me just because I'm your brother's best friend?"

He sat there for a while, letting his thoughts wander, watching the moon as if it were a reflection of her. Eventually, he returned to his bed, picking up his phone. He typed out a message to her, "Hey! Are you ignoring me?" and sent it before drifting off into a restless sleep.
In her room, Roshni sat at her desk, her diary open in front of her as she poured her heart onto the pages. She wrote about Saad, confessing her conflict and confusion.

'Saad, I know I hurt you by ignoring you today. I'm sorry for that,' she scribbled with a heavy heart, 'but I don't know any other way. You're my brother's best friend.'

Tears smudged her writing, slowly dripping onto the page. She looked up, her gaze drawn to the same full moon shining outside her window as if it were a quiet witness to her turmoil.

Her phone vibrated with Saad's message, but she couldn't bring herself to respond. She left it on seen, her heart aching, yet feeling that distance was the only choice she had. She set her head down on the diary, and as her thoughts circled back to Saad, she cried herself to sleep, the image of his face vivid behind her closed eyes.
