"I must be heading somewhere, if not my destination ", she grumbled.

Lily had been walking for a quarter of an hour and she could not fathom the place she was at. The street was silent, all it's shops closed and there were hardly any people who could be seen anywhere. Her mind was continuously shouting to her that something was not right. She felt very anxious and had not ceased walking since she got out of the bus. Although she was now at a bit ease, having had no other problems to worry about other than an unknown road, she still had the eerie feeling of being followed.

This is what happens when you read too much crime fiction. While reading you felt you could naturally have been the world's second best detective, after the great Hercule Poirot, the best full time detective and part time match-maker, but sadly when a real situation creeps up, all you can think of is "Why aren't there any ice cream or chocolate shops in the entire street? The people living here are either all diabetic patients or enthusiasts of boredom."

"Pray tell me, does eating ice cream make people interesting according to your opinion?"

Lily looked around, alarmed. There was no one near her, then who said those words? How could they hear her thoughts? She was losing her nerves.

"DUCK!" the voice rang in Lily's ears and instinctively she bent down. A flash of light hit the building adjacent to her. The building bore a crack right where the light had hit a moment ago. She looked around but could see no one.

Now she was getting really afraid. If she would not have followed she would have been hit by that light. If it could have sent a crack through a three storey building, she couldn't imagine what it could have done to her. She felt weak, not being able to see the attacker. She wanted to shout, Why don't you come in front of me? One tight slap is all I need to use to fix you, you slimy little cockroach!

Just then, a stray dog came into view from one of the bylanes. It looked straight at her and gritted it's teeth. Something about it's looks seemed very strange to her. Lily started walking at a faster pace, all the while keeping an eye on the dog. The dog started speeding towards her. It jumped on her and bit her leg and kept holding the leg with it's mouth. Pain flooded Lily's veins and she got vindictive. She used her smoothie flask as a weapon and beat black and blue out of the dog. The dog finally released her leg and went a bit far from her, whimpering.

It felt like there had been a last minute tournament between a dog and a girl . Generally, people would pity the girl, but in this case, one look at the dog and even the greatest sadists of all times would feel a tear running out of their eyes. In the dog society, he must be ridiculed and shamed if any other dog finds out how badly it had lost the 'Street Championship'.

A flash of purple light, and the dog's eyes became still. She looked around from where the spell hit it but to no avail. Her legs could not hold her body anymore and she fell on the ground. Blood was oozing out of her leg. Tears were streaming out of her eyes. Her leg was throbbing. She saw a blur in front of her. Something black came in front of her and she felt someone was pulling her up before she went pitch black.

.....

"She needs to be taken to the hospital wing, Headmaster."
"She is perfectly fine here."
"No one else will be able to get in the hospital wing. And I would keep her under my eyes. She needs rest."
"She will rest here, Madam Pom-"

Lily opened her eyes slowly. She saw two women and a man looking down at her. They all were wearing cloaks. She felt she knew them, even though she was sure she had never met them before. Then it hit her. It must be. If what she is thinking is not right, nothing makes sense.

"How are you feeling?" asked the younger woman.
What a question, Lily thought. What should I say? That I feel like I had been forced to play a tournament like Harry had to in The Goblet of Fire? Or better, I am feeling absolutely alright, thanks to the dog who bit me. I have certainly never been this happy before.
"A good deal of stinging sensations in my leg," Lily replied as she sat up.
