I waited outside until it was actually time for my shift. I figured I wouldn't get to see Alli again because of top military secrets; you know? So I said nothing as I went to work.
I stayed in the front because I wasn't supposed to be hearing anything said between Alli and Jeremiah. Multiple people questioned my quietness, but I didn't try to explain.
Eventually at about noon I got some news about Alli. Jeremiah came out and said the secretary of defence wanted to talk to me, and I was anxious about it.
"Hey..."
"There's no use trying to not have you involved, you already know the whole situation. Well, most of it. And you have already made contact with an alien robot. You are already involved."
"Ok... And what about Alli?"
"For the time being, Alli will remain with you. But to the public she is only a motorcycle. Got it. No one can be allowed to find out the truth except those directly involved in this."
"I understand." I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.
I was really happy because this means I won't have to come up with some lane excuse for not having my motorcycle to my mom, and because I won't have to say goodbye to Alli.
"You will be contacted if we manage to Locate the cube. Until then, we have nothing more to discuss."
Before I could say anything more, the secretary of defence hung up on me.
