Time had darkened in a short space of time, as had Lycair's emotions. She couldn't help thinking back to the way the witch looked at her, as if Hucral had always known her... Since her return to the castle, she had remained stoic on her bed.

— When all this is over, I'd like to see her again. But I'd also like to draw her, paint her, anything that would allow me to admire her again and again, she thought with a sigh.

However, the future queen couldn't afford to think any more about this bewitching woman, for she had a revolution to lead and win. So, to take her mind off things, she donned her combat gear and set off to practice her swordplay in a corner outside the castle. However, Lycair didn't get to practice much, as it was already 8 p.m., dinnertime. With no time to spare, she hurried home and put on the first dress she could find. And because of her haste, she hadn't even noticed her mother watching her from her own bedroom window.

Lycair entered the dining room.

— Good evening father, good evening mother.

— Good evening my child, they said in unison.

The princess didn't even have time to settle in before her mother addressed her and her husband at the same time.

— I hear there's going to be some kind of human revolt tonight, she began.

Lycair felt his blood run cold. How did she get to... She paused for a moment before finding the answer she was looking for.

Irmine.

(I knew I'd have to search for her to the death).

— That's why we're going to confine you to your room until their little crisis passes, continued the king.

— What?! No, I don't agree, father.

— It's not debatable," he said in his usual firm tone.

— But you'll need my powers to defend yourselves! (I need to give more arguments, but how??)

— I want to help defend our nation, she says, slamming her hand down on the table. Even if I carry them in my heart, I won't let anyone come after you. You're my family and I'm the future queen, I won't hesitate to kill to prove my authority!

She finishes her lie with angry tears. Pathos is a common method of manipulation, which consists in grabbing the people you're targeting by the feelings and/or emotions. They both kill themselves, reconsidering their decision.

— It's all right, the King finally declares. I'm proud of you, darling. I hope you make it.

— If you want to skip dinner to go and prepare a strategy, you can, said his mother. Just take this herbal tea to give you strength.

— Thanks, I'll be going now!

Lycair grabbed the cup and drank it down, before heading out of the room.

They waited to hear Lycair's footsteps before continuing their conversation.

— It's perfect, said her mother. Thanks to Irmine's information, we know all about their plan.

— Still, I can't believe our own daughter is plotting against us.

— We've known about this from day one, so it's time to stop denying it, my dear husband.

— You're right. Even if we've raised her as our own, she's still a traitor.

— And what happens to those who dare to rebel against the crown? the queen asked, as if to make him aware of what was happening.
