A reset

2 days since the incident. The table was rather empty. Not empty from when she was sick or late... empty, like a void surrounded the seat... no one moved up nor sat there. It was taken - taken by her soul. Freddie could still hear the sirens... they all hated him...well, not really. But Igor did. Normally, he wouldn't mind or care. But this time, this time he felt hopeless. He felt a spark when he looked in his eyes, but now it was broken apart once again. It had reseted.

15:03pm

He walked home at the beach where they first had potential. What if he hadn't thrown that sand? What if that person hadn't kicked that rock so Igor wouldn't have fell over? Was it meant to be? It doesn't matter. Because everything had reseted. The sun set in the distance, a shimmer emerging from the water. Freddie looked at the shell below him, its wavy, mesmerising accent beckoning him closer. He put his ear against it gently, listening closely at the waves hidden within. Suddenly, he jolted as he saw Igors shadow.

"go away, Freddie."

It reminded him of himself, when he used to be so cold to Igor...

"Listen Igor, I'm sorr-"
Igor cut him off out of pure spite, he clenched his fists out of anger, holding back his rage.

"No you're not!" he cried out, "you're never sorry!" He started to tear up, his eyes becoming glossy like the ocean shore.

"You're never sorry! Every day I try to be good enough, but it's never enough."

Freddie looked up, hopeless.
"Do you not think I try?"

Igor fought back.
"Do you not think I try!? It's hard to have to deal with your...bullshit everyday! I thought you were good." A soft tear fell down his right cheek, "I thought we had something..."

Freddie raised his voice, pain stuck in his throat.
"Do you think I wanted to stay there!? I wish I could,  Igor. I tried. I was scared! Okay?"

The atmosphere fell into silence, apart from the faint sound of the wind blowing.

Freddie cleared his throat before speaking again, wiping a tear so he doesn't look weak.
"I'm sorry for throwing the sand at you."

Igor looked back, puzzled.
"What?"

"You told me..." he mumbled, "when I was ready, I could try again."

Igor let out a faint smile, wiping his tears from his rosy cheeks.

Freddie started to mutter, adding to his sentence.
"When I look into the sun...I imagine it's looking at me back. I imagine behind the warm, joyful face...it's secretly evil inside. Like it's pretending to be something it's not. But ever since I got to know the true you..." he started to look into Igors eyes as he spoke. "I've started to think. What if it's something even better inside? Funny... beautiful...everything I dreamed of."

Igor walked up to him, holding his hand as they both look at the sun, sitting down.
"Do you know what's funny? We look at the sun the exact same. But we have completely different thoughts."

"Well, a friend once told me... two opposite things sometimes appear the same from the outside."

"A-a friend?" Igor stuttered, looking into Freddie's eyes as he blushed faintly.

"Maybe something more. After all, the sun resets everyday." He stuck his hand out, offering it to Igor.
"Maybe we could reset once more?"

Igor took his hand and fell into a deep embrace with him.
"Once more..."
