Katherine took the keys out of her pants pocket and got into the car, immediately started it up. Only Richie came out of the house, who managed to slow Sam down before she reached the car in which they arrived.

Amber didn't come out, but stayed inside with their friends, not that Murphy expected Freeman to chase her with apologies for anything. It's not in her nature.

— Sam. — The redhead honked her horn, attracting attention when she saw her ex-friend turning away from her boyfriend and going to go to the car.

Carpenter hesitated for a second and sat down next to her, strapping herself in.

— Where are we going? — Katherine asked, because she really had no idea where Samantha was going to go after her escape from their friends. She turned to Sam and saw her staring intently into the rearview mirror before answering the question.

— For now, just drive straight. — Wearily, Carpenter leaned back in her seat and glanced at the window, carefully avoiding looking in the rearview mirror.

After a couple of minutes of awkward silence, Murphy decided to speak up. — You know, just so you know: I don't think you're the one walking around in a Ghostface mask and killing people.

— And why don't you think that's the case? — Sam asked with a raised eyebrow, opening her tightly closed eyelids. — Because, obviously, all your friends and girlfriend think it's me.

— Well, then it's good for you that I have my own opinion and don't need to follow the crowd. The first victim of the attacks was Tara and obviously myself, and I don't believe you would hurt your sister, even if you hadn't seen her in five years.

Samantha smiled sincerely, even turning her head towards the driver to get a better look at her ex-friend. But then the wording of the words reached her and the joy disappeared.

— Wait a minute. You only said about Tara. Do you believe that I could attack you? Or in general for anyone else? — Tara's older sister hastened to correct herself and even blushed from the mistake.

The redhead mumbled something unintelligible, pointedly ignoring the burning gaze on herself from the girl on the side, preferring to look at the road in front of her.

— You know, it's not fair. You're literally dating Amber Freeman, one of the most suspicious and therefore likely candidates for the role of Ghostface, but I don't see you even considering her as a possible option.

— I think I should kick you out of the car, go back to my suspicious girlfriend, one of the most likely candidates for the role of Ghostface, and finally arrange the date I planned this morning. — Katherine snorted, clinging to the steering wheel with both hands, not yet fully understanding how her words sounded. She really left her girlfriend, her beloved, just to follow Carpenter, her former love interest, without even knowing where exactly she was going to go.

Samantha said nothing, admiring Murphy's side profile. She even managed to drown out the furious growls of dead Billy, who reproached her for not doing anything to protect her sister and ex (ex?) beloved.

The redhead sighed and looked into the brown eyes for a moment, which never left her own blue ones. - Let's just stop at the fact that I don't believe it's you, okay? Don't be offended by Mindy for what she said.

— I heard you were away from Woodsboro for a while? — After a few seconds of tense silence, Sam said, wanting to put distance between her and Katherine.

— Yes, for two years, — The girl nodded, looking straight ahead through the windshield. — you know, to college. But then I came back.

— Why did you come back?
