YOU could count on one hand, the amount of times Camilla Chen let her plastered on smile slip. Even when the front fell, it was only for a few moments. Her mother always said to her that showing your feelings makes you weak, something Laurel told Cami to blame on her father, though she never really knew why.

From what she can remember of her father, he was a great guy. Always making sure he was generous and helpful to others, the most compassionate person people knew.

But then one unfortunate day when Camilla was nine years old, she heard a gunshot followed by screaming from her parents' bedroom. Disturbed by the noise, she put down her Barbie dolls and ran down the hallway.

"Mommy?" The young girl yelled, trying to make her voice heard over the gut-wrenching screams of her mother. Once Cami reached the doorway, all she could see was red. Absolutely everywhere.

Her eyes followed the trail of blood around the corner beside the large bed, where her mother was crouched over her fathers lifeless body. There was a black handgun the two of them, with blood on the handle.

"What happened?" Camilla asked quietly, tears brimming her eyes. Her concerned tone caused Laurel to turn around with nothing but fear on her face.

"Cami, baby, i'm so sorry," Laurel sobbed, shaking her husbands lifeless body, the blood covering her hands and shirt. Cami was in shock, she was confused. "I found Daddy like this. We need to call 911." For a woman who had just found her husband, Laurel Chen looked oddly calm. The only fear on her face was from Camilla seeing the scene.

Nine year old Cami didn't know what was happening, all she knew is that her dad was dead.

From what reason, she did not know.

The girl's plastered on smile faltered for just a second when she heard JJ say that the gun was Scooters, the pogue that drowned in the Marsh after his Grady White went down.  She wasn't shocked that he had a gun, or that the pogues had somehow acquired it, no way. Most of the people in the Outer Banks owned one.

She was shocked because he came over to their house a week prior to his death, and as Laurel and him were talking, she slid him the gun across the table.

The same gun that Camilla's dad had used to shoot himself.

She heard Kiara sigh loudly from her place behind the bongo drums. "I knew we shouldn't have told her Kook ass, she can't even stand the fact you had a gun!" She exclaimed dramatically, causing Cami's head to turn in her direction.
