The puja was completed with all the rituals being practised. The guests were gone, the sweets distributed. It was time for the family to have lunch. Yes, Diya was a part of this little family.

"Khana kaisa bana hai beta." Malini asked as she herself took a morsel after serving them.
(How's the food dear?)

"It's delicious aunty. Thank you so much." Diya thanked her for inviting her to join the lunch with them.

"Oh, what's the need of this formality, you are like my daughter, in fact you are a member of this family, isn't it Dhruv" Dhruv nodded, who was busy stuffing himself like a squirrel.

Diya and Malini both chuckled.

"Aunty, I think I should leave now, Disha di is at home and must be waiting for me"
Malini nodded.

"Ghar par koi pareshan ho raha ho toh main nhi rokungi, warna kal tumhe ghar jaane deti" She responded with a soft expression.
(If someone's worried at home then I wouldn't stop or else I would have made you spend the night here.)

"If you are comfortable enough, then tell your sister that you'll stay with us tonight." Malini suggested with some hope that Diya would agree.

"Aunty I am more comfortable here than my house but the thing is that Di came to visit me after a long time, so.." she trailed off, hoping that Malini would get it.

"Ohh" she indeed sounded disappointed but soon it turned into an understanding smile.

"She can come anytime she wants, isn't it?" It was Dhruv who was silent, just listening to the other two women talk, who were most important in his life.

Diya nodded in response and held Malini's hand reassuring her that she'll come to visit her soon.

Malini gave a smile making the other two smile too.
" Okay, the food is getting cold, I have worked really hard on them." The giggling could be heard from the duo.

"

No, no..." Diya's eyes glossed with unshed tears. Her voice choked, stuck in her throat. "How could she do this to me?" She ran hand in her hair and fell on the couch behind her.

Disha ran to her and hugged her tightly. She cursed herself for not being able to save her little sister again from  falling into all this. She kissed her forehead and tried to calm her down but nothing was working at that point of moment. Moreover her sobs grew louder, Diya leaned onto her sister's  warmth.

And the room got silent, the only sound of her sobs.
Otherwise deadly silent.

It was evening when Diya returned home and was quite happy after the gathering at Dhruv's home.

But soon her happiness turned into a horrific nightmare.
Smile into loud sobs.
Shine in her eyes was replaced by the smudge of mascara.
The blush which stayed on her cheeks for the whole day turned into dried tears stain.

The world turned upside down for her and the only person responsible for all this was her mother dearest.
