Boboiboy was late.
He was rushing to school, it wasn't like him to be late at all. He had always been the type to plan ahead, to get things done early, but today... it was different. His sneakers slapped against the pavement as he sprinted down the streets of Pulau Rintis with the warm sun already high in the sky and his breath coming out in ragged gasps. In his mind, a clock was ticking louder with each passing second and with each step he took. The bell would ring soon and he was still a few blocks away from school.
It all started that morning when Tok Aba asked him for help to make and deliver a couple dozen cups of Tok Aba's special ice chocolate, one of their Kokotiam's most popular drink alongside the special hot chocolate. Boboiboy agreed, but he hadn't realized just how much work it would be to deliver so many cups, it also didn't help that the house was on the farthest side of town.
By the time he had finished the delivery, the sun was already rising higher, the streets were getting busier, and there he was, running as fast as he could just to make it to school on time.
As Boboiboy was running, his mind flashed back to the house; the one he had just delivered to. It didn't look anything special from the outside, it looked like your average typical bungalow with a tin roof and wooden walls, but something about it... unsettled him.
The front yard was quiet, unnervingly so, a few potted plants sat neatly along the porch, but there were no signs of life-- no decorations, no toys or biscycles left outside, no children playing, no laughter, no sounds of people moving about. The gate was old, rusty at the hinges, and creaked loudly when it was opened, as though it hadn't been touched in years.
It was as if the house was holding its breath, waiting for something.
Boboiboy snapped back to reality, shaking his head and pushing the thought away. He didn't have time to worry about that now. He remembered how the air had felt unusually cool in that area despite it being a warm morning. But that was all behind him now, and what he really needed to worry about was getting to school on time.
Boboiboy rounded the corner and saw the school gates in the distance, Rintis Island Academy-- he was hoping that classes have not started yet and he can imagine his friends were probably already waiting for him. By the time Boboiboy reached his classroom, he was exhausted but he was glad he made it.The elemental hero pushed the door open to find his classmates and friends already there, thankfully the teacher wasn't there yet much to his relief. Fang was lounging in his seat with Gopal talking his ear off beside him, meanwhile the three girls-- Ying, Yaya, and Lia were discussing about after school activities.
When they heard the door open, all eyes landed on Bobiboy who was now walking to his seat. "Boboiboy!" The gang exclaimed.
"Eh? There you are! You look like you just ran a marathon!" Fang remarked, leaning back in his chair as he raised an eyebrow.
"I thought you weren't coming to school! What happened?" Lia, Boboiboy's girlfriend, asked with concern. She knows about Boboiboy helping out on the Kokotiam especially before school, but she knows it wasn't like him to not be on time.
Boboiboy huffed, pulling his bag off his shoulder and setting it on the floor. "You won't believe it, I had to deliver a huge order of special ice chocolate." He leaned against the desk, wiping his brow. "It took longer than I thought."
"A huge order?" Yaya blinked. "This early?"
Boboiboy nodded, still catching his breath. "A couple dozens."
The gang around Boboiboy let out shocked expressions as they heard what Boboiboy just said. "A couple dozen?!" Gopal gasped, his voice high with disbelief. "Who would order that much?!"'
