In my dream I was falling from a cliff.  The air blowing in my face making it hard to even breath. Then, Elizabeth appeared on the ground right where I was about to land. I wanted to scream, but I was unable to speak. Elizabeth grew beautiful wings, and started to fly up.

"Dont worry." she said. She caught me and landed gracefully on the ground with me in her arms. She carefully put me onto my feet. I hugged her tightly looking over her shoulder. A man in the shadows stood just beyond Beth and I. The shadowy figure pointed a gun at me. BOOM! I was surprisingly unharmed. He must have missed us. I rubbed my fingers together. The were warm, wet, and sticky.

My hand was blood red. Beth was leaning on me with all of her weight. I tried to call her name, but I was still unable to speak. She became very heavy. I slowly laid her on the ground face up. There was a hole that traveled through her back and to the front of her chest. I started panicking. I scowled at the shadow man. I wanted to scream to Beth that I was sorry. I kneeled down to Elizabeth and carefully shut her eyes so she could be at peace. Still looking at the shadow I slowly stood up. I wanted to attack him, but he would have shot me in seconds. I looked back at Beth, and she was no longer laying down. She was slouched over covering her wound.

I tried so hard to speak, but the only thing that came out of my mouth was air. She stood up, still holding her wound, and walked towards the shadow. I ran in front of her and grabbed her shoulders trying to push her back, but she was too strong and my feet would not stop sliding backwards.

"You shot me." she said, with her voice full of rage.

"And yet, you are still alive. I wonder how many times I could shoot you till you are dead." the shadow said. Beth grabbed my hands off of her shoulders, and walked around me. She suddenly ran after him.

"Not today" he said. He pulled the trigger and shot Beth in the shoulder. She flinched, but kept on going. He fired again, but she did not stop. I could see her tears trail behind her as she ran. He kept shooting Elizabeth until she fell at his feet. This time there was no question that Beth was dead.

"Finally." the man sighed in a sickening relief. He turned his head towards me. He slowly raised his gun, pulled the trigger, and- I jerked my head straight up. Strangely I wasn't in the bed anymore. I think I was on the floor unable to see anything or move my body at all.

"Rise and shine, Briar. Did you sleep well?" asked a cold cruel voice. Suddenly, red hot, searing pain, exploded across my cheek. Something behind me--er, tied to the back of me, whimpered. It was Elizabeth. Then, another pain broke out across my ankles.

Were they whipping us? I didn't want to speak, but I just had to ask one question.

"Why are you-" I was interrupted by another lash to the left cheek. Why were they doing this?! Just for the sheer fun of it? I do not get how this could be fun though.

"NO TALKING!" screamed one of the men.

"Now we are going to play a game. Doesn't that sound fun?" the same voice asked.

"Watching a movie is fun. Being tied to a chair, unable to see, being asked if I would like to play a game, now there is no way that is fun. It is just creepy." I couldn't believe that I just said that.

"I SAID NO TALKING!!" the man shouted. A fist came across my face. The taste of metal filled my mouth, and my tooth became wiggly.

"Anyway," the other man said. "Let's see how smart you girls are! Trivia. If you answer a question incorrectly then...well you'll just have to find out." I became really nervous. "First up, Miss Bethany! How many United States Presidents have there been? Five seconds."

"Uh, 44?" Beth asked/answered.

"Correct!" a deeper voice said. I decided to call him Man 1. "Here is some chocolate!"

"Really?" Beth asked sounding a little excited.

"No you stupid brat! And I said no talking!" Man 2 shouted. Beth screamed, most likely from another lash.

"Next category... Math for Briar." said Man 2 smugly. Oh crap! I suck at math! I barely made it to Junior year because of it. I had to go to summer school!

"What is the square root of 3,969?" asked Man 1.

"Five seconds!" he shouted. I searched through my head to find an answer, but i barely even started the problem.

"Uh... pass!" I said hoping they would let it go.

"No passes, and time is up!" I knew it was my turn to feel pain.

"No!" Beth yelled. I was surprised she would take a lash for me. Two hard lashes hit Beth and I. We couldn't hold back our whimpers.

"Next question, in what year did World War 2 start?" Man 2 asked Beth.

"1862!" Beth cry-screamed. The man made a buzzer sound and said,

"Wrong!" 20 million questions and whips later, Beth and I were beaten and bloody. The men shoved Beth and I back into the closet/bedroom, right after they untied us. We took our blindfolds off and hugged.

Beth had a nasty scar on her forehead, and other than our bloody whip wounds, she looked okay.

Beth and I had learned sign language five years ago, when we were 12 years old. So I asked her if she was okay, and if she had her REAL cell phone with her.

No, she sighned back. I am okay, but the Man took my when I was unconscious. she finished.

What are we going to do? I asked.

I don't know! You're the one who always comes up with the plans! Beth exclaimed. (Well, as much as she could exclaim in sign language.

For now let's just look around the room, and see what we can find. I motioned my hands toward her. She gave me a thumbs up which was meaning "Okay".

We both got off the bed and started looking everywhere. Beth started to look through two drawers of the small bedside table, while I went for the small door in the back of the room. I tried to open it, but of course it was locked. I moved to check under the bed. There was a small tote bag under it. I grabbed it as I called Beth's name quietly.

"Open it!" Beth whisper-shouted. I quickly unzipped the bag and started digging around inside, but all the bag contained was clothes, that I guessed were for Beth and I. After that Beth and I just sat around the bag. Eventually we got tired and made sleeping arrangements. Beth slept on the bed and I made a little sleeping area on the ground. There was a blanket and top sheet on the bed that I used and Beth got the comforter.  Fortunately, when I finally found sleep, I had no dreams.
