I hate Mondays. I actually hate every day. But that is beside the point.

Mondays are by far the worst day of the week. I have to wake up at 7:30 to get ready for my classes. And I have been up all night studying. Plus, I work weekends at a stupid cafe having to put a fake welcoming smile on my face to give grumpy businessmen their morning coffee. I mean I would be grumpy too if I worked weekends... oh right, I fucking do.

But I do need the money. Who knew law school would be this expensive?

Today is a Monday. So once again I'm laying in bed with my pillow over my head as my alarm goes off for the next twenty minutes.

I know I should turn it off but then I would open my eyes and not be able to go back to bed. It's where I belong.

I groan into my pillow begging for the noise to stop... and it does.

Suddenly the pillow is ripped off my head and I'm revealed to the light. I have to resist my vampire urges to hiss.

"Get. the. fuck. up." My roomie Valerie. As much as I enjoy her company, she's a bit grouchy in the mornings.

I don't move.

Until she shakes me over the head with my pillow. "Fine, fine, fine" I huff, "I'm up"

I turn my head to gaze at her. Her fiery red hair is a tangled mop on her head, her hazel eyes glaring at me.

I flash her a quick smile before sitting up. "That fucking alarm has been going off for the past 17 minutes and 34 seconds" Valerie scolds.

I roll my eyes at her typical mom reaction. She's always been the sensible one in our friend group. If you fall and graze your knee, Valerie has a plaster. If you're sick in a random club bathroom, she'll hold your hair. She has the best advice as well.

The downside is her strictness. Not the best quality I'll assure you.

"Get dressed. Briar's making pancakes." She turns and storms out of the room.

Fuck I love Briar's pancakes. She's the best baker I know. I don't know what I'd do without her.

I get out of bed and throw on an oversized hoody that was lounging around somewhere. Slowly, I move into the kitchen.

The smell hits me and my stomach rumbles loudly. Briar giggles at the sound as she plates up a few for each of us. Chocolate and strawberry, just how I like it.

Briar is my other roommate and my best friend since middle school. She's super nice and always sees the best in people even in the worst situations. But we love her, and her pancakes. God, I love pancakes.

She leans over pushing the plate towards me, her long blonde hair tied in a French braid at the back of her head. A big smile plastered on her face.

I don't know how she does it this early.

"Thanks" I grin and sit down immediately digging into my pancakes.

"Morning" Briar speaks, "Valerie's already left, she won't be back until tonight" I hum in acknowledgement. Valerie is an engineering major. Personally, I think it's so boring.
