SUZUNE HORIKITA
Every now and then I find myself going back to that memory, feeling the warmth of Kiyotaka's hand on my back, guiding me... the sensation of dancing with Ayanokouji on a stage with lots of people watching us was nothing like what I had imagined. I wasn't embarrassed or afraid of making a mistake, it was like I was floating, my heart was beating to the rhythm of the music and our steps were light and synchronized and at the same time that I wished that magical moment would never end, I felt sad, the way Kiyotaka's eyes kept on mine was stunning and yet it felt like he was saying goodbye, as if when the dance was over he would disappear...
Well, he didn't disappear. At least not literally.
It all happened very quickly, one moment he was dating Kei Karuizawa and the next he was cheating on our class and turning his back on me for good. I don't know what I did to deserve being betrayed like that, I don't know where I went wrong, just when I thought we'd resolved our differences and finally become friends, he left the class and not only that, he came down hard on me, which is why I barely managed to graduate with an A grade.
The boy who sat next to me, my beloved table neighbor, suddenly became a cold and merciless traitor. Kiyotaka... I always knew I shouldn't trust you, I knew that from the start, but I didn't know you could be so cruel and for that, don't think I'll forgive you so easily, no, even if you get down on your knees and beg I'll never forgive you, that was the promise I made to myself at the graduation ceremony as my eyes met yours in the crowd.
— Wow... I didn't realize it was so big. — Kikyo sighed next to me.
I just watched her and then looked at what was in front of me, it was really huge and then I took a deep breath and started walking towards the building. It was a new beginning and I wouldn't look back.
— Are you still going to wear your mask? — I asked Kushida casually as we made our way through the corridors of the Elite University, where only students who graduated with an A grade or who had some kind of honorable mention or outstanding performance during their time at Koudo Ikusei School and graduated from it were obviously allowed to set foot.
— I don't know... old habits, you know, are hard to give up. — She replied, curling a lock of her medium-blonde hair.
— Whatever you decide, I won't leave you alone.
I assured her of this by giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. I wasn't aware of why Kushida was acting like that, I just knew that we'd grown close, I'd say we were friends now and that's why I wouldn't leave her alone anymore.
While I was distracted by Kikyo, someone walked past me almost taking me away, I would have complained if I hadn't realized that the person was a known troublemaker.
— Yo, Suzune. — Ryuen's deep, teasing voice rang out through the corridor and his typical mischievous, devilish grin traced its way across his salacious lips, giving me a nostalgic feeling. I hadn't expected to find him here, let alone be greeted by him, we had nothing more to do with each other, or perhaps he was just showing respect to an enemy who had fought bravely and proved to be very strong, and so I smiled at him.
