"even in my saddest moments,
you're always there - being a light
to my dark world."
When the weekend finally rolled around, Nari was relentless. Every chance she got, she was nudging Cha-hee, dropping hints, and practically begging her to go out for some fresh air and fun."Come on, Cha-hee," Nari whined, tugging at her sister's arm as they sat in their shared room. "Just one night! We'll go grab some snacks, maybe even see a movie! You've been working so hard; don't you want a break?"
Cha-hee sighed, feeling torn. "You know how Mom and Dad are, Nari. They're always telling us we should be studying, and I don't want to give them another reason to be on our case."
Nari rolled her eyes, crossing her arms with a huff. "They act like we don't do anything but goof off. But all we ever do is study! We deserve one night-just one-where we don't have to think about school or grades. Is that too much to ask?"
Cha-hee couldn't deny the temptation. She was exhausted, and the idea of spending a few carefree hours with her sister sounded like heaven. But she could already picture their parents' reactions if they were caught. The last time they had tried sneaking out, they'd both faced a lecture that had lasted nearly an hour. Her parents had scolded them for wasting time, for not taking their futures seriously. Even thinking about it now made Cha-hee cringe.
"I just... I don't want to go through all that again," she murmured, avoiding Nari's gaze.
Nari's shoulders slumped, but she didn't give up. Instead, her eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint as she leaned closer. "What if we're extra careful? We could go somewhere close by. Just a quick outing, in and out. They won't even know we're gone."
Cha-hee bit her lip, considering. Nari's enthusiasm was contagious, and deep down, a part of her wanted to say yes, to break free from the endless cycle of expectations, even if just for a few hours. But the responsible voice in her head wouldn't quiet down, reminding her of the pressure her parents constantly placed on her. Being the "perfect daughter" wasn't just a label-it was a role she felt she had to play, no matter how tiring it was.
