The next day, after a hard day of conditioning trading, Yuji asked Megumi if they could go and hang out- a date. They agreed to set this event for evening to set a mood.
The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over Tokyo. It was a Friday evening, and the air was filled with a gentle breeze, hinting at the excitement of the weekend. Megumi Fushiguro stood outside a quaint little café, nervously adjusting his collar. Today was special; it was his first official date with Yuji Itadori.Inside, Yuji was already seated at a small table, fidgeting with the napkin in front of him. He had chosen this place for its cozy atmosphere and the delicious desserts he had heard about. He glanced at the door, his heart racing as he anticipated Megumi's arrival.
When the door swung open, the bell above jingled softly, and Megumi stepped inside. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, and he wore a navy blue hoodie, paired with jeans. He spotted Yuji and felt a warmth spread through him, a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"Hey, Megumi!" Yuji greeted, his smile wide and infectious.
"Hey," Megumi replied, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks. He took a seat across from Yuji, trying to ignore the fluttering in his stomach.
"Did you find the place okay?" Yuji asked, leaning forward eagerly.
"Yeah, it was easy to find," Megumi said, his voice steady despite the butterflies. "I've never been here before."
"It's really good! You'll love the desserts," Yuji said, his enthusiasm contagious. He waved over the waiter and ordered a couple of desserts to share, not caring about the calories.
As they waited, Yuji couldn't help but steal glances at Megumi. There was something about the way he focused, his brows slightly furrowed, that made Yuji's heart race. They chatted about school, their latest missions, and the strange encounters they had faced as sorcerers. Despite the lighthearted conversation, there was an underlying tension, a current of unspoken feelings lingering between them.
When the desserts arrived, a chocolate lava cake and a matcha parfait, Yuji's eyes sparkled with excitement. "This is the best part!" he exclaimed, eagerly digging in.
Megumi watched him, a small smile forming on his lips. "You really love sweets, huh?"
Yuji nodded, his mouth full. "They're the best! You should try this." He pushed the parfait toward Megumi, who hesitated for a moment before taking a spoonful. The flavors burst in his mouth, a delightful mix of sweetness and creaminess.
"Okay, that's actually really good," Megumi admitted, and Yuji beamed with pride.
As they continued to eat, the conversation flowed effortlessly. They shared stories and laughed, the tension slowly dissipating. Megumi found himself enjoying Yuji's company more than he had anticipated. The way Yuji's eyes lit up when he talked about his passions made Megumi feel warm inside.
After finishing their desserts, Yuji suggested a walk around the nearby park. "I know a great spot to see the city lights!" he said, his enthusiasm contagious.
The park was alive with the sounds of laughter and the rustling of leaves. The two strolled side by side, the evening air refreshing against their skin. As they reached a small hill, they paused, taking in the breathtaking view of the city skyline lit up against the night sky.
"Wow," Megumi breathed, captivated by the sight. "It's beautiful."
"Just like you," Yuji blurted out, then immediately turned red, realizing what he had said. "I mean, uh-"
Megumi's heart raced at the compliment. "Thanks," he replied softly, a shy smile creeping onto his face. "You're not so bad yourself."
Yuji's face lit up, and he took a step closer. "I'm really glad we did this," he said, sincerity shining in his eyes. "I've wanted to spend more time with you."
"Me too," Megumi admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. He felt a surge of courage and took a deep breath. "I've always liked being around you."
Yuji's eyes widened, and for a moment, the world around them faded. The air crackled with unspoken words, and Megumi's heart raced as he took a tentative step closer. In that moment, everything felt right.
"Can I... can I hold your hand?" Yuji asked, his voice nervous yet hopeful.
Megumi nodded, feeling his cheeks heat up. As their fingers intertwined, a wave of warmth washed over him. It felt natural, as if they were meant to be standing there together, under the stars.
"Let's make this a regular thing," Yuji suggested, squeezing Megumi's hand gently.
"Yeah, I'd like that," Megumi replied, a genuine smile spreading across his face.
As they stood there, hand in hand, the city lights twinkled like stars, and for the first time, Megumi felt a sense of belonging. This was just the beginning of their journey together, and he couldn't wait to see where it would lead.
