Chapter 2
~Warrior~
Now... Our story starts waaaay before The Odyssey. Back when Odysseus and Asteri(a) were young...
Odysseus and Asteri were playing around, pretending to fight Giants, Cerberus, Sirens, and more. "When I'm older... I'm gonna be the greatest hero of all time! I'll slay the sirens that come my way, fight in a war, and heck... I'll even fight a god!!!" Asteri laughs. "You can't fight a god, silly! A mortal can't possibly kill one of the Olympians!"
Odysseus scoffs. "Just you wait! How about you?" Asteri thought for a moment. "Maybeee... A farmers?" Odysseus shrugs. "Eh, there are a lot of farmers... Aim higher!" Asteri sighs. "A housewife?" Odysseus thought and shook his head no. "Nah, honestly, you would be a terrible housewife- AHHHH- I'M KIDDING!!!" Odysseus ran for his life while Asteri chased after him with a large stick.
A few mins later the two stopped. Completely out of breath. "I hate you... So much, Ody..." Odysseus sighs. "I was joking, Ash! Jeez... But... You gotta choose what you wanna be when you grow up, Ri." Asteri sighs. "I know! But I don't know what!" Odysseus shrugs and pats her back. "It's alright, Asteri... Welp! Gettin' late! See ya tomorrow!"
Asteri sighs and waves goodbye. "See ya... Odysseus..." Asteri dropped the stick and started walking home. But... She didn't know where home was. It was getting very late and she didn't have a torch or something that can help her see. That's when she heard a growl...
"A demon...?"
What were demons doing on the surface?! Asteri screams as she ran for her life, desperately calling out for help! But... No one heard her... She ran and ran and ran, until eventually, she got tired. For some stupid reason, she stopped running. She closed her eyes and and screamed for help one last time...
She thought she was a goner! But nothing happened. She hesitantly opens her eyes to see a woman with black hair and brown eyes wearing amour. She held a spear. She looked like Athena! Almost...
The spear was piercing through the demons chest until it stopped moving. The woman took the spear out and went up to little Asteri. "Are you alright, little girl?" Asteri nods. "Your... A warrior...?" The lady nods. "Why is shocked, young one?" Asteri looks down. "I thought mortal women couldn't possibly be able to fight even if they wanted to... That's what my father told me..." The warrior chuckles. "Well, your father is wrong. Anyone can be what they desire. Come, let me escourt you home."
When they got to Asteri's home, her mother Dimitri immediately hugs her daughter. "Asteria!!! Oh, thank the gods your alright..." After the woman told Dimitri a few things she left and Dimitri started asking Asteri questions like if she's okay. "I was worried sick! Do you have anything to say for yourself?!" Asteri smiles.
"How do I become a warrior?" Dimitri looks confused. "What?""I want to be a warrior!"
Asteri yells with determination. Dimitri smiles. "If that's what you want! Anyone can he anything! Well... Not anything, but you get the point!" Then, Asteri's father Andreas laughs. "A warrior? No, that's not right for a lady. Either a housewife or a damsel will do. You can be anything, Asteri. A baker, a farmer, but a warrior? HAH!"
Asteri crosses her arms. "Athena's a warrior! So is Artemis! And the lady who saved me!" Andreas scoffs. "Athena and Artemis aren't human. And that lady probably was an Amazon or something! It's better if you just become something else, Asteria!"
Asteri frowns. "Yes father..." Asteri then goes to her room. She heard her parents argue... "Andreas, how could you say something like that?!" Asteri groans. "What??? It's true!" Dimitri scoffs. "Mortal women can fight, you know?" Andreas rolls his eyes. "I'll believe it when I see it!" Dimitri looks shocked. "Are you kidding me?! There are many great warriors who were women!!!"
Asteri sighs. She layed down on her bed and thought to herself. "I WILL become a warrior... I don't know why... But I just do..."
Since then, Asteri was interested in climbing, fencing, archery, and many other activities. She grew up to be a strong independent woman, and despite her father's neglectful words, she never stopped dreaming. One day, she's gonna be a warrior!
WHATEVER IT TAKES...
