Taehee stood in front of you and Jungkook, holding the rings on a tray, her face glowing with excitement as she smiled ear to ear. Your face was flushed bright red, and you couldn't stop fidgeting nervously. Jungkook stood in front of you, his grin so wide it almost looked like he might burst with happiness. Taehyung, standing beside you, took your hand gently and placed it in Jungkook's, his expression soft and proud.

Taehyung - Take care of my sister well.

Jungkook gave an assuring nod, his smile reassuring, and turned to face Mina, waiting for the next part.

Mina - Do you Jeon Jungkook take Kim Y/n as your wife?

Jungkook's gaze softened as he looked at you, before he nodded with conviction.

Jungkook - Yes.

Mina then turned to you, her eyes full of excitement as she asked the same question.

Mina - Do you Kim Y/n take Jeon Jungkook as your husband?

It felt surreal to be standing there, with a shy smile, you nodded.

Y/n - Yes.

Mina, Taehyung, and Taehee erupted into applause, clapping enthusiastically as if this were a moment they'd been waiting for all their lives.

Mina - You both may exchange the rings.

You both slid the rings onto each other's fingers, a symbol of the commitment you'd just made. A promise that neither of you would ever break.

Jungkook turned to you, his infectious smile never fading, as he pulled you toward him by your wrist, his eyes glinting with playful mischief.

Jungkook - Now you can go nowhere, you can't be anyone else's best friend—only mine.

You laughed softly. He leaned down and kissed your cheek, a soft one.

Jungkook's eyes fluttered open, and he sat up abruptly in bed. He ran a hand through his hair, his heart still racing. His gaze swept over the surrounding, he just realized he's in the room and it was a dream, his friends packing up their things, preparing to leave.

Taehyung noticed Jungkook sitting in the bed.

Taehyung- Oh man, finally you're up! Pack your things, we're leaving in about an hour.

Jungkook blinked, his mind still half-lost in the dream. He stared at Taehyun for a moment, processing the fact that it was all just that—dream. Not just any dream, though. The dream had taken him back to a time when everything was simpler, when you were his best friend and the world seemed so much smaller.

He remembered how, back then, you had made a new friend, and Jungkook had felt this sharp jealousy and protectiveness. He remembered the paper rings, the little " mock wedding" you both had made out of boredom and childlike imagination while you guys were in third grade.

And then, as his mother had once explained to him in a way only a child could understand, he had thought marriage meant simply keeping someone with you, forever. She had told him it was about love and commitment, but all he had understood back then was that he wanted to keep you close. He had wanted to make sure that no one else could take you away, so he decided—somehow, in his young mind—that marrying you was the answer. That's why he had asked you to wear those paper rings.

Jungkook's mind replayed yesterday's conversation, each thought more painful than the last. His heart felt heavy as he looked around the room and caught Jimin's gaze. Jimin's eyes were soft, full of understanding, but Jungkook couldn't bring himself to meet them.

Jimin stood and reached out, but Jungkook quickly got up and headed to the bathroom, avoiding him.

He shut the door behind him, leaning against it as he took a shaky breath. The reflection in the mirror stared back at him, full of frustration and guilt. He didn't know what to do anymore.
