Episode 16

Ling Pov

I ran to the front of the ICU. I saw aunty sitting in front of the ICU crying and exhausted. 

When she saw me, she ran to me and grabbed my hand. I patted her hand. 

"Don't worry, everything will be fine. Let me take a look.. please calm down." I try to calm her down.

Before entering the ICU, I saw Orm and P'Junji nervously running towards us. I went in and put on the mask, gloves and everything. I went to uncle was lying unconscious. 

His pulse rate was very low on the monitor. 

"Don't give up, uncle. We only have you to call our own." I whispered in his ear.

"Nurse, check his BP, Rose get ready for the defibrillator." I instruct. 

"Ready." Rose said. 

"Give him cardioversion. (Electrical shock)" I informed. 

"Ready." His body rose with each shock. sweat began to fall from my forehead. 

I wiped it off with my hand after 2 hours of effort, his pulse rate returned to normal. 

I was relieved when he started breathing normally. 

"Thank God." I looked at my companions and smiled and thanked them. I looked at uncle. 

"Thanks for not giving up uncle."

"Take him to a private room." I came out to the ICU, Orm, aunty and P'Junji rushed to me when they saw me. 

"Ling, how is he now?" Aunty started bombarding me with questions. I understood that she was very scared. I looked at Orm, her condition was the same.

"Aunty, please calm down." I held her shoulder and consoled her. 

"Uncle is fine now. He will be transferred to his room soon. Don't be afraid, let's go to my room and talk. I have a few questions." I took her and walked to the room followed by them. 

I opened the door of the room brought them to the chair and sat down. P'Junji sat next to her and Orm on the couch. 

I gave her water to drink when I was sure that she calmed down, I sat back in my chair. 

"Dr. Kwong, what happened to dad?"I looked at Orm and took a deep breath. 

"Cardiac arrest, first stage." Everyone was stunned. 

Aunty started crying again.

P'Junji calmed her down. I realized that Orm was still in shock. 

"Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with him now. He needs some res and please avoid saying or doing things that cause a lot of stress..... but can I know, what happened to him to suddenly get such a shock?" I saw Orm lowering her head with sadness.

"Today we went to see Kwong and Pranya. He was very emotional not being able to fulfill the last wish of his best friends."

She wiped her tears. 

"We stayed there for a long time, suddenly he said that he was having chest pain. I was totally scared, scared of losing him." She sobbed.

"Mom, it's okay. He is fine now." P'Junji caressed her back. I looked at Orm and then said to aunty. 

"Didn't I say no to this marriage already? This will never make anyone happy but everyone will be sad......that's true, I decided to marry Norawan to fulfill my parent's wish but that was my decision...I didn't see Norawan's likes or interests there, that's wrong. My father taught me to never force someone to do something they don't like so please forget this proposal and give Norawan the life she likes." 

I felt angry when I saw that no one understood Orm's wishes.

Wisanu is an asshole but she likes him. Their marriage is to be fixed not with me. 

No one said anything then someone knocked on the door. 

"Come in." 

Rose came in. 

"Dr., Mr. Sethratanapong regained his consciousness" Rose said.

Hearing that, everyone jumped up 

"Rose, take them to him." I said. She nodded. 

"Please come with me Mrs. Sethratanapong" Rose guides aunty to uncle's room. 

Everyone went with Rose. 

Orm looked back at me before leaving, but I didn't understand the look on her face.

Orm Pov

I sighed heavily, as I got closer to dad's room, my heart started beating faster. I walked in and my father smiled lightly when he saw us. 

My eyes filled with tears without knowing why. 

I went to my father. 

"Da..d." I held his hand when he came to say something, the door opened and Dr. Kwong came in. I moved to a corner. 

"How are you now uncle? Are you feeling better?" She smiled. 

"Thank you so much, Ling. I thought I would die without seeing my children." 

Dad said with a smile.

"Don't say that..." Mom yelled. 

"Oops... Sorry sweetheart." I playfully rolled my eyes. Dr. Kwong chuckled. 

"Anyway, Don't stress yourself anymore. We were so worried about you." 

Dr. Kwong says in a worried voice. 

"Not anymore. I don't leave you guys. I decided to leave my all business to Orm and then take my wife on a vacation." 

I widden my eyes.

"That's cool. Anyway, I'm leaving. I have many patients to attend to. Take care of yourself uncle." She smiled and made her way out. 

"Of course and thank you again Ling." He said. 

"It's my duty, so don't thank me." She smiled and winked at my father and went out. 

She didn't even look at me. I sat there like a statue.

'Did she decide to marry me just to fulfill her parent's wish? Wasn't she in love with me?'
