Jin was engrossed in his work, the morning sun streaming through the large windows of his office and casting a warm glow over his latest sketch. The lines and curves of his new clothing collection were beginning to take shape, each stroke of his pencil adding life to his vision. It had been a long morning, but he found solace in his creative process, losing himself in the world of fashion design.
Suddenly, the quiet hum of concentration was interrupted by the sharp ring of his phone. Startled, Jin glanced at the screen, noting the unknown number. Hesitation gripped him, but curiosity won out. With a soft, hesitant voice, he answered, "Hello?"
For a moment, there was silence on the other end, followed by a voice that sent a shiver down Jin's spine. "Jin, it's me... Jungkook."
Jin's heart skipped a beat. It had been a year since he last heard that voice, a voice that once brought him comfort and joy. A flood of emotions surged through him-surprise, confusion, longing, and a pang of sorrow. He had tried to move on, but hearing Jungkook's voice again made him realize just how much he had missed him.
"Jungkook?" Jin's voice trembled slightly, unable to mask the mix of emotions coursing through him. "How did you get my number?"
There was a brief pause before Jungkook responded. "I got it from Hoseok. I needed to hear your voice, Jin."
Jin swallowed hard, his mind racing. "It's morning here, Jungkook. You should be sleeping. Why are you calling me now?"
"I just had dinner with our friends," Jungkook replied, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia. "Seeing them made me think of you. I couldn't sleep without talking to you, without asking you why you left, and what happened between you and Jaehwan."
Jin felt a lump form in his throat. The past year had been a whirlwind of emotions, and he had tried to bury the pain of their separation. But now, faced with Jungkook's questions, he knew he couldn't avoid the truth any longer.
"Jungkook, I..." Jin began, his voice faltering. "I left because I thought it was the best thing to do. Everything was falling apart, and I didn't know how to handle it. Jaehwan and I...we parted as soon as I realized my mistakes"
"Why didn't you tell me, Jin?" Jungkook's voice was filled with hurt. " We could have talked about it. But, you just disappeared."
Jin closed his eyes, a wave of regret washing over him. "I was scared, Jungkook. I thought leaving would make things easier for everyone, but it only made things worse. You were not ready to forgive me either. I hurt you, and for that, I'm truly sorry."
There was a heavy silence on the other end of the line, and Jin could almost hear Jungkook's thoughts racing. "I missed you, Jin. Every day, I missed you. I wish I didn't, but I did."
Tears welled up in Jin's eyes, the weight of his actions finally sinking in. "I missed you too, Jungkook. More than you know. I broke up with Jaehwan because I realized... I realized that I love you. That's why I left for London. I thought giving you space and time would help you heal and forgive me."
"The truth is, I could never hate you, Jin. I was mad but that's all there is.." Jungkook said softly. "I just wish things had been different. I wish we hadn't lost so much time."
Jin's heart ached at the sincerity in Jungkook's voice. "I wish that too, Jungkook. I wish I could take back all the pain I've caused. I want to right all my wrongs."
"Do you really mean that?" Jungkook's voice was tinged with hope.
"Yes,Kookie" Jin replied, his voice firm, the nickname of his boyfriend rolling on his lips. "I can still call you that, right.I want to start over, if you'll let me."
There was a long pause, and Jin held his breath, waiting for Jungkook's response. Finally, Jungkook spoke, his voice filled with determination. "We will take baby steps, Jin. We've both been through a lot, but maybe we can find our way back to each other."
Jin felt a flicker of hope ignite within him. "Thank you, Kook. Thank you for giving us another chance."
As they continued to talk, the distance between them seemed to shrink, and the memories of their shared past began to fade a bit. It wouldn't be easy, but Jin was willing to do whatever it took to rebuild their relationship.
"Jungkook?"
"Hmm?"
"You take care".
"You too, Jin."
After hanging up, Jin smiled. He hoped that with Jungkook's initiative, things will go well soon.
Jungkook, on the other hand, sighed. First step had been done. He slept peacefully that night.
