As the days passed, Lena couldn't stop thinking about Sebastian. He seemed to be everywhere: standing in his front yard at dusk, walking past her house in the early hours of the morning, his eyes always watching. It was as if he were always just a little too close, just a little too... interested in her.
Jonah's warnings echoed in her mind, but the more she saw Sebastian, the more intrigued she became. He was charming, mysterious, and there was something undeniably magnetic about him. And the truth was, she found herself drawn to him in a way that made her heart race and her pulse quicken.
But then, one night, things took a dark turn.
Lena was walking home from the library when she saw Sebastian standing in her front yard. He wasn't moving, just staring at her. His eyes were glowing—bright amber, almost like they were glowing with an inner fire. The chill of the night air made her breath catch in her throat.
"Sebastian?" she called out, her voice trembling slightly.
Before she could take another step, he was in front of her—too fast. He was so close that she could feel the heat of his body, could smell the strange, intoxicating scent of him.
"You should go inside," he murmured, his voice low, almost pleading.
"Why?" Lena whispered, feeling both afraid and drawn to him.
His eyes softened for a moment. "Because you don't know what you're getting into."
Suddenly, Lena felt a chill run down her spine. Something was terribly wrong.
"Get away from her!" Jonah's voice rang out.
Lena whipped around to see Jonah running toward them, his face flushed with anger. He stopped a few feet away, eyes locked on Sebastian with a mixture of fury and fear.
Sebastian stepped back, raising his hands in mock surrender. "I didn't mean any harm."
Jonah's fists clenched. "Stay away from her, Sebastian. She doesn't know what you are."
The words hit Lena like a ton of bricks. "What... what do you mean? What is he?"
Jonah's eyes flickered nervously. He glanced at Sebastian, as if unsure whether or not to say more. "Lena, you don't understand. He's—he's not human."
Lena froze, looking between Jonah and Sebastian. "What do you mean?"
Jonah's eyes softened, and he took a step toward her. "He's a vampire."
