A Poet's Excitement

When I heard you read poetry, my heart lost its beat,
I froze in my seat, trying to stay discreet.
Outside, I was calm, just a smile and a nod,
but inside, I was spinning, like lightning had struck.

You spoke each line slowly, your voice soft and low,
and suddenly, I felt my whole face start to glow.
I wanted to scream, wanted to cheer,
couldn't believe that poetry brought you here.

Every verse made you somehow more real,
more magnetic, a charm I could feel.
You don't even know, but you lit up my day—
in those lines you read, you just took me away.
