Sybil sat silently, her legs hanging from the edge of the platform. She was tapping one of her digits against a small grayish rock. It was glowing. Her optics were focused on the horizon, her mind lost in thoughts. More like memories.
"I liked you. A lot", D had said. But he wasn't D-16 anymore. He was now Megatron, their enemy.
Only if she could have known about Sentinel. only if she had sticked around more with Sentinel and go with his trips to the surface.
"It's not your fault", Orion had told her.
But she didn't feel like it was true. Sentinel was her brother. But then again, she never spent time with him. She preferred to be in the mines with her friends, chat and learn everyday of their hard work. Scold Orion when he got in trouble, laughed at D's scolds towards Orion, spent the rest of the day with Orion and D.
But now, it was all different. She felt half empty. The connection she had with D was like a family connection. Now, D had turned to Megatron and nearly killed her. He was gone. He was their enemy. He wasn't the D-16 she used to know. Their connection had been...cut off.
"Ah, here you are", Elita said. Sybil glanced over her shoulder and smiled slightly. Elita sat next to her and sighed.
"Yea...", Sybil said, brushing the rock with her thumb. "It helps me clear my mind"
Elita hummed. She noticed the rock on her servo. "What's that?"
"This?", Sybil asked, opening her digits. "Something D had given me long time ago"
Elita stayed silent. Sybil sighed and looked up at the sky.
"I hate this...I hate myself for allowing Sentinel to do all of this to us", Sybil whispered. Elita placed her servo on her shoulder.
"It's not-"
"My fault, I know", Sybil finished for her, looking down at the rock. Elita moved her servo away. They stayed silent. Sybil sighed again.
"Have you told Optimus about...?", Elita trailed off, changing the topic. Sybil shook her helm.
"I can't bring myself to", Sybil said and chuckled softly at herself. "Silly me"
Elita smiled. "You can always try"
"You're right", Sybil said, looking at her. "But, isn't he busy right now?"
"Not right now ", Elita said. "He was asking for you, anyways. So, I came to look for you"
"He did?", Sybil asked, her optics sparkling. Elita nodded. Sybil looked down at the rock for a moment before looking at Elita. "Where is he?"
Sybil landed gracefully on the platform, her optics scanning the familiar surroundings. Some bots were chatting among each other, waving at her as she passed by. Sybil found B.
"Hi, Sybil!", B greeted her with a warm smile.
Sybil returned the smile, "Hey, B. Have you seen Optimus?"
"Oh, he's right over there", B replied, gesturing with his thumb behind him.
Sybil gave him a gentle tap on the arm with her fist. "Thanks", she said before dashing off in the indicated direction.
She found Optimus standing alone, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. Sybil slowed her pace, her voice soft as she called out. "Optimus?"
Optimus turned to her, his face breaking into a smile. "Sybil, where have you been?" he asked.
"Thinking," she replied with a shrug. Optimus understood the unspoken words behind her simple answer. He hummed thoughtfully. "What'd you call me for?" Sybil inquired, stopping in front of him.
"I've been noticing your...nervousness," Optimus replied, his voice filled with concern. Sybil froze, her optics widening.
"Pardon?", she asked, her voice barely a whisper. Had he discovered her secret?
"Elita told me something", Optimus explained. Sybil rubbed the back of her neck, her mind racing.
"Ah, w-well..." she stammered, unsure of how to proceed. Optimus waited patiently, his expression calm. "W-what did she tell you?" Sybil finally managed to ask.
"Something..." Optimus trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid. Sybil blushed, her spark pounding.
"Does it have something to do with...well...me?" she asked, her voice barely audible. Optimus nodded, confirming her suspicions. Sybil hesitated for a moment before sighing and giving in. "Fine. I just like you", she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Optimus remained silent, his expression unreadable. Sybil looked down, her face flushed. "Hmm. I thought Elita was joking", he finally said, breaking the silence.
Sybil didn't look up, her gaze fixed on the ground. Optimus stepped closer, gently lifting her chin to meet his gaze. Their optics locked, a silent conversation passing between them. A soft smile graced Optimus' face as he leaned in, their dermas meeting in a tender kiss.
Sybil's optics widened in surprise, but she soon melted into the kiss, her response as genuine as his. After a moment, they pulled apart, Sybil's face flushed a deep shade of blue. Optimus chuckled, his optics filled with amusement.
"So she was right", he said, a playful glint in his optics.
Sybil glanced at him, her expression a mix of embarrassment and relief. "Yea..." she whispered. Optimus nodded slightly, his expression softening. "You're...not mad at me?" Sybil asked, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"Why would I?" Optimus replied, his tone gentle. Sybil shrugged, still unsure. "I would never be mad at you", Optimus assured her. Sybil looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. A soft smile spread across her face as she leaned into him, their arms wrapping around each other. As they stood there, embracing each other, they gazed out at the beautiful sunset. This was a new beginning for Cybertron, a future filled with hope of a better life.
