"Robin, wake up."
He felt someone nudge his shoulder. He wiped his eyes, letting out a deep yawn.
"Charlene?" He murmured.
"Charlene? Should I be worried, Robin?"
And the voice grew very harsh. He knew then it was not Charlene's voice.
His eyes blew open. "Nina. You're awake."
"Yes," she said, cocking her head sideways. "Are you?"
"What? Yeah, I am."
She nodded then, narrowing her eyes. "Who the hell is Charlene?"
Robin stares blankly into his wife's eyes. He scratches his head, scoffing. "Sorry?"
"What are you not telling me," she hisses.
Robin shrugs. "I don't know--"
"Sorry folks," says a man with a greasy hair of black hair. "I have some news to deliver."
"Oh yes, yes," says Nina very gently, hushing the doctor in. "Tell us."
Nina hits Robin in the shoulder, trying to alert him.
"Uh, is the baby OK?"
The doctors give a warm smile."Everything should be fine. No need for worrying just yet."
"But?"
"Your baby was born very premature, so he is not fully formed just yet. He'll need to be kept in the hospital for a while longer so we can monitor him closely, and make sure he's getting every help he needs."
Nina nods very quickly. "OK, well I guess we knew that would happen. It was the exact same with Michael's first born."
The doctor nods then, "I'll keep you two updated."
"Thanks doc," says Robin, waving him off out the door. He then turns to his wife. "Michael?"
She nods briskly. "Yeah, your boss. He helped me out when I was in labor. Why are you asking, hun?"
Robin rolls his eyes. There are so many things he wants to ask her about him being here during the labor process. Robin arrived only when the baby started coming down the birth canal. Mr Spielberg, his old and grumpy boss, on the other-hand, was there for the majority of it.
"No reason, but I wanted to ask you why I was never contacted about you going to into labor."
Nina groans. "Oh, I knew you'd be like this."
"Like what?"
"Can't you just be happy we have a healthy new born son?"
Robin grunts. "Are you fucking messing with me? I have every right to know about my baby, and you didn't tell me. How is that being selfish?"
Nina throws her head back down on the pillow.
"I don't know why, OK? I guess I was in too much flipping pain to remember to ring you."
Still makes no sense. Robin sighs, realizing he isn't going to get a clear answer from his wife now.
"I'm just after giving birth, Robin. I'm absolutely exhausted."
"I know," he mutters.
"Sorry," she says then, and Robin feels this time she may actually mean it.
"Yeah. Uh," he says, clearing his throat. "I have a lot of work to finish, so I'll go and you can sleep."
She smiles sweetly up at him. "Thanks hun. I love you."
"Love you too," Robin replies and bends to peck his wife quickly on the cheek. "See you."
