Turns out Hades was right.

Nico did see Will. Though it wasn't during the "final battle" at least he hoped not.

He'd been scouting out a group of Cyclops, Empousa, and Hellhounds that had been gathering by the Gotham border when he saw him. Hazel had dragged him out to this mission, she's said that he was going to drive himself to death if he kept up how he was going, but he'd refused to relax, so she'd decided to bring him on a simple scouting mission, making sure the monsters hadn't figured out a way to breach the border.

Nico froze as his eyes locked on the golden hair within the mass of monsters. Hazel made a confused noise, then gasped when she was where Nico was looking.

Will was alive.

His mind halted to a stop, just staring down at the blond boy. He couldn't form a complete thought, just looking at his boyfriend, the boy he hadn't seen in over a month, in shock.

"Nico?" Hazel stepped in front of him, snapping him out of his shock, "Nico? We can't get to him right now. Do you hear me?"

Nico looked at her confused, a little angry, "What the fuck do you mean I can't? That's Will! He's right there!" He tried to shove past her, get to his boyfriend, but she stopped him.

"Nico, he's surrounded by monsters, we're two people. We won't stand a chance, especially if he's fighting against us and you're going to refuse to hurt him."

Nico stared at her in shock, "Hurt him?! Why would we have to hurt him? That's Will!"

Hazel nodded, still holding him back despite his struggling and glancing behind her warily, "I know it's Will Nico, all I'm saying is that we have to be smart about this. We can't just jump in hoping that it'll go right!"

Nico glared at him, pulling back. But his mind was still going a thousand miles an hour.

A moment later he remembered he could shadow travel. He gave his sister an apologetic smile, then let the shadows pull him in.

He stepped out into the camp, immediately turning to find Will. But before he could figure out exactly where in the camp he was something barreled into his body.

He stumbled to the ground, scraping his arms and getting dirt in his mouth. He looked up, expecting to see a monster, but instead he was met with the sky blue eyes that he saw every time he closed his eyes.

"Will?" He tried to lunge upwards and hug his boyfriend, tears gathering in his eyes, but he was met with sharp metal being pressed against his throat.

"Who the fuck are you?" Will hissed, looking pissed.

Nico stared at him in shock. Will had remembered him. Nico saw the note. He had to have remembered him.

"Will?" Nico didn't care how weak his voice sounded, he already felt close to tears, "You know me. Nico. It's Nico."

Will didn't bat an eye, he pressed the golden sword deeper into Nico's neck. He felt the burn of Imperial Gold.

Will was going to kill him. And Nico knew he could do nothing about it.
