Annika's POV
The day of Holi arrived. I woke up by myself, as I barely got sleep last night with my mind already preoccupied with all the thoughts of today out of excitement. Lakshmi walked into my room, all ready to wake me up. But I was already up and she was surprised.
"Accha! So Holi is indeed your favourite occasion and yet you forgot all about it yesterday!" Lakshmi commented.
"Oy! I didn't forget! It just slipped my mind!" I justified myself.
"Yeah, sure it did! All the same!" she chuckled. I stretched and got up from the bed. Lakshmi went in to prepare my bath while I went over to my almirah and looked through my clothes.
"What shall I wear today?" I called out asking Lakshmi.
"Haan, wear red, why don't you?" Lakshmi said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.
"White only, my yuvrani!" she replied.
"Achha accha baba! I know!" I said, looking through the choices I had in the colour white. I did have a couple of options in mind. One was too grand for Holi, so I mentally discarded it and looked at the others. Then I picked the one which was easier to move in. It was still elegant, with a little undertone of gold in the borders. I pulled it out and held it against myself.
"How is it?" I asked. Lakshmi peeked out of the bathroom and looked at the outfit.
"Beautiful!" she said, before disappearing again. I chuckled.
I then went to my dressing table and sat down, applying some oil on my hair before taking a bath and picked out the accessories.
"Simple gold jewellery will do for today!" I said to myself.
Then I went into the bath and sank into the tub of water filled with rose petals. The mildly warm water soothed my skin. Tension left my body with ease. I took a quick bath, rinsing myself as Lakshmi helped me with washing my hair. Then I got up after a short while, wrapped a towel around myself and went to my room. The sudden change in temperature made my skin blossom with goosebumps.
I quickly changed into my saree. I was halfway through getting dressed, which is when I got confused and messed up my saree pleats. Lakshmi helped me with them and I smiled.
"Oh, what will I do without you Lakshmi!" I exclaimed and she gave me an unconvinced shake of her head. I chuckled. She finally made sure I looked good in the saree.
With a satisfied smile, she stepped back and turned me to the mirror. I smiled at my reflection. She made me sit at the dressing table as she took the accessories. I wore my bangles while she helped me with my necklace. I then wore my jhumkas as she helped me with my maang tikka. With that, my look was done. My hair was in an updo. If the colours got in my hair, it was a huge job just to get it off. I looked at Lakshmi through the mirror.
"Someone looks wonderful!" I teased her and she chuckled.
"Well, I got direct orders from a certain yuvrani!" she replied with a smile.
"That would be me!" I smiled.
"Sure is!" she said, as she was finally done with my hair. We both went to Amaia's room, as we were all ready to dress her up in a saree. I knocked at the door. Amaia soon opened the door. She was in a night dress. We then stepped in.
"Are you done with your bath?" I asked.
"Yeah" she said. I had bought her a wonderful white saree, which I showed to her.
