Hello Pretty People
I am back with a new chapter
I know I am late but I was not motivated to write anything because the response is dull and no one is reading my story so I went in the spiral of self doubt. But now I will try to post regularly.
*Tara's PoV*I'm standing by the gate, watching the last rays of sunlight slip behind the college buildings, but my mind is still back in the library with Vikram. He left so suddenly, like he was running from something. Or maybe... someone. And that someone was me.
Did I say something wrong? I replay our conversation in my head, wondering if I missed something, some sign that he was uncomfortable. Why did he look so panicked? I can't help but think maybe I scared him off, though I don't understand why. My overthinking mind is in full gear now, coming up with every possible explanation.
Staring at myself in the car mirror in front of me, I tell myself not to overthink. Vikram's a mystery, sure, but that's his deal, not mine. Still, as I stand here, waiting for a rickshaw, I can't shake the image of him leaving so quickly.
Just as I'm about to give up on getting any answers, I hear someone call my name. I turn, and there's Rajveer, running towards me, breathless but smiling like he always does.
"Hey!" he says, catching his breath.
"Hi, Rajveer. What's the rush?" I ask, forcing a smile.
"I've been running towards you," he jokes, flashing that charming grin of his. I raise an eyebrow, trying to act like I'm amused, though my mind is still racing with thoughts about Vikram.
He chuckles, then continues, "Vikram called me. Said you both were working on a project, and since it's late, he had some urgent work. He asked me to drop you home."
Vikram sent him? That just confuses me even more. He could've told me he had to go. Why send Rajveer?
I force myself to smile and nod. "Oh, okay. He didn't say anything before he left, but thanks for offering."
Rajveer shrugs, his laid-back vibe always easy to be around. "No problem. You shouldn't be waiting alone this late anyway."
I follow him to his bike, but my mind is still spinning. Vikram's distant, and I've seen him keep everyone at arm's length. But today felt different—he seemed almost scared, like he's hiding something. And for some reason, I can't stop wondering what that might be.
As Rajveer and I ride through the streets of Delhi, I try to shake off the feeling that something's off. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that Vikram isn't just another guy who keeps to himself. There's more to him, something deeper. And I can't help but feel like I'm about to get pulled into his world, whether he wants me there or not.
I snap out of my thoughts as the bike comes to a stop in front of my apartment. I step off, feeling the familiar weight of my bag on my shoulder, and give Rajveer a quick smile. "Thanks for the ride," I say.
"Anytime," he replies, grinning as usual. We exchange quick goodbyes, and I start walking toward the building, but before I can make it far, I hear Rajveer call out my name again.
"Tara!"
I turn around, seeing him jogging towards me. He stops, catching his breath for a moment before speaking. "I know Vikram can be hard to understand, but... he's not a bad person. I just thought you should know that."
His words catch me off guard. For a second, I don't know what to say. I nod, processing what he just said, but it only adds more questions to the pile already swirling in my mind.
"Why are you telling me this?" I ask, genuinely curious.
Rajveer looks at me with a seriousness I'm not used to seeing from him. "Because... I kind of know how he must have acted today. Vikram's got a lot going on, but he's not the type to push people away for no reason. If he did that to you, there's something else behind it."
