Never Compare

Part 9

(Y/n) lays on the bed while Hotch and Reid stand on either side of the bed.
Her doctor walks in with a clipboard. He looks up and between the three.
"What are the results?" Hotch asks in his normal stern tone.
"You are indeed pregnant."
Hot tears stream down the woman's cheeks and she turns her face into her pillow.
Spencer squeezes her hand gently.
Arrin sighs but nods. "Thank you. May we have her discharge papers?"
"Yes of course. I'll be right back with them." The doctor turns and leaves the room.

"Please don't cry (n/n). We'll all be here for you."
"I know you said you planned on quitting if the results were positive. Do you still want to leave?"
She nods quickly. "I want to go home."
"I can take her home Hotch. I'm sure you'll need to talk to the higher ups and smooth things out for her." Spencer offers and looks up at his boss.
Reluctantly Aaron agrees. He knew Reid was right.
(Y/n) changes into clothes Aaron brought and signed her papers.
The two agents drive separately and (Y/n) remains silent.

Once they arrive at (Y/n)'s apartment Spencer helps her inside.
She walks in and looks around.
"Do you want me to make you something to eat?"
"I just want to change and sleep. Later I'll get to working on the nursery."
"(N/n) I know you probably don't believe me but I do love you. I'm sorry this happened."
"Reid you only love me because I might be carrying your baby. It's not like a switch in your brain turned and your feelings for JJ just disappeared."
"But they did. I had plenty of time to think it over and figure out my feelings."
"It doesn't matter anymore. Forget them. I have someone now and he loves me, despite what happened."
Spencer frowns but nods. "I understand. Just know I'll be here for you and the baby."
(Y/n) nods and rubs her arm. "I know it's unfair. But now you have to move on. Find someone else."
Reid scoffs and nods. "Yeah." He looks around then leaves.
(Y/n) sits in the bath for a while before changing into pjs and falling asleep.

The team gives their support and well wishes.
Penelope obviously didn't want her best friend to leave but she understood the reason. She even helped (Y/n) with nursery ideas.
Hotch and Jack look at houses for the three of them to move into.
Jack was happy to have a sibling on the way.
Eventually they pick a house and move everything in.
(Y/n) and Jack have fun decorating the nursery.

Although (Y/n) didn't have any ultrasounds done for the first few months she decided for month five she would get one.
Check up on the baby, find out the gender and make sure everything is going ok.
Due to the team being on a case the mother-to-be went alone.
Once everything is set up and the nurse puts the transducer on her stomach (Y/n)'s eyes widen.
"Oh you're having twins. I guess they're a bit small but nothing to really worry about. One looks smaller than the other, also not something to really worry about."

(Y/n) is unable to speak.
Twins?!
"So it looks like they're both girls." The nurse continues and smiles. "I would suggest keeping an eye on them, make sure they're both growing ok. Your stomach isn't the normal size so hopefully that will change soon. We want to make sure they have plenty of room to grow."
(Y/n) finally looks at the woman next to her and nods. "Yes you're right. I guess I'll have to eat more."
"Oh yeah. Eating for three is hard."
The mother nods and cleans up her stomach.

(Y/n) texts Penny to let her know when the team would be returning.
She wanted to give them the news all together.
Days later everyone gathers in the pit and (Y/n) walks over.
Seeing her for the first time since she left felt weird.
Especially since her belly is round now.
"You have news?" Hotch inquires, maintaining his stoic facade.
"I'm having twin girls."
Everyone cheers and a round of hugs for (Y/n).
Spencer looks at Hotch. "She's having twins."
The leader is just as shocked. "Are there any twins in your family?"
Spencer shakes his head. "It might come from her boyfriend's family."
Aaron shakes his head. "Not that I'm aware of."

Later that night Aaron and (Y/n) tell Jack, who is even more excited to have little sisters.
(Y/n) puts her hand on her stomach. "Where did twins come from?"
"Who knows? But no matter what the DNA test results are I will still raise them as my own."
The woman kisses her boyfriend. "Would you ever consider getting married?"
The question takes Aaron off guard.
"You want to marry me?"
She smiles and nods. "I love you. Once the twins are born we can get married. I no longer work with you so there won't be an issue."
The agent smiles and nods. "I'd like that. And I'm pretty sure Jack would love that."
"I mean he already calls me mom."

(Y/n) spends her time planning their wedding.
Of course since the secret will be out she wanted to invite the team.
Penny would be furious if she wasn't invited, regardless of who the groom is.
She just feared the other's reaction to the news.
Especially Spencer.
Eventually everything is planned and soon enough the due date is around the corner.
(Y/n) texts Aaron when she's ready to go to the hospital.
He looks at the team after he reads the text. "She went into labor."
Of course they're on the plane ride home so he hopes she could hold on long enough for them to get back.

Aaron drives Penny to the hospital while Emily drives Spencer.
"Do you think Hotch hates me?" Spencer mumbles, looking at his lap.
Emily glance at the boy then back at the road. "I doubt it. But he's in a difficult position now with what happened. Probably irritated." She comments and laughs softly.
Once they all arrive Aaron asks for her room.
The nurse frowns. "Are any of you Aaron or Penelope?"
"Oh that's me!" Penny exclaims, happily.
"I'm Aaron. Are we allowed back?"
"Yes. Let's get you changed and cleaned up."

(Y/n) pants heavily as she looks over, hearing the door open.
"Oh sweet pea we're here. Are you almost ready?" Penny asks, scurrying over.
Aaron walks over and holds her hand. "I'm here. You're doing great."
"Are you ready to push now ?" The doctor asks and she nods.
Penny holds her other hand and (Y/n) squeezes as she pushes.
Yelling and crying ensue.
